Guest guest
I take 1,000 IU / day. There are times I increase it to 2,000 IU / day. Are you over either of those yet? (dh) and I have a lot of supplements we take, but not as many times a day as you do. Wow. LOL Ours are broken into three times a day, though I'm really bad about it lately. I'd love to hear what you're taking, how much, when, and all that. If you ever feel like tapping it out. ) Challis Traci Knoppe wrote: Hi Sharon, Yes, I am taking Vit D, but because I'm low - will be increasing it substantially, because I don't think I'm taking enough still. I take a whole slew of pills every day - it's enough to choke a horse, and I believe that quite literally! LOL My supplementing routine is laughable, about every hour or two, I'm taking a pile of pills (vitamins), as so many can't be taken together, and I need to drink a protein shake 3-4 times per day, as I can only absorb 30 grams of protein at one time. Thus is the trade-off for my restored health from the surgery and to keep myself healthy from now on. I knew this going in - but finding the right balance of supplements is a bit tricky and takes some tweaking. I am not familiar with the Vit. D and MS link. Well, if I knew about it at one time - I've forgotten. Although, if you send through a link, if I see the article, that may jog the memory and I may very well have read about it and just forgot. Not at all an uncommon thing, my memory is shot. That's another frustrating thing - the memory issues. I am in menopause, due to a total hysterectomy, so I was explaining the memory issues away to that, but found that others who are in surgically induced menopause, or natural menopause, don't seem to have the extreme memory loss issues that I do. It's truly "out of sight, out of mind" with me. LOL The tuning fork: could be the neuro did use the tuning fork and I've forgotten. It obviously wasn't a memorable moment of the visit. Have you read the studies on Vitamin D and MS? It's very interesting that you are low on Vitamin D and are having these symptoms. I can't remember how old you are Traci?Do you feel your gastric bypass has anything to do with your vitamin deficiencies or symptoms? We have one other member who has had the same surgery and one who is preparing to undergo it soon. The "tuning fork" is part of the normal neurological exam but perhaps your doctor does something different.hugs))Sharon This email is a natural hand made product. RE: Old lurker rejoined and still no answers <<Do you feel vibrations in your legs when they have a tuning fork against them? >> Hi Pegi Well, I don't recall that anyone has held a tuning fork up to my legs - so don't know about that one. LOL I did not have any lesions in my MRI's. I do have clinical symptoms that "appear" to be MS, but without some "proof" from tests, the doctor's aren't going to give me a MS diagnosis. It all just appears to look like MS at this point. A refresher, for those who don't remember my posts from this summer: I had RNY gastric bypass surgery (weight loss surgery) in July 2004. I've had my labs checked 6 months ago for any nutrient deficiencies and all was okay. I was low on Vitamin D, but everything else was okay. However, with no lesions showing, me still having symptoms coming and going to varying degrees, I'm going tomorrow to have my labs re-drawn to see where they are now. I don't want MS. I don't want nutrient deficiencies either and even though I am supplementing - it could be I need to tweak something and I know I need to stay on top of that, due to my malabsorption issues. I have excellent insurance and it paid all of my MRI's, lab work and all that thus far. So I'm sure it would pay for a lumbar puncture too. It's not the money, it's the necessity and is it worth it to have it done I'm more concerned with. Traci Knoppe <*)))>< Shape Yahoo! in your own image. Join our Network Research Panel today! Fussy?
