Guest guest
We have 4 PTs and 2 PTAs. PTAs are easier to find here because of the PTA schools that are around, PTs are very hard to find. We are a CAH in Iowa and can only have 2 PTAs for 1 PT because of supervision rules, FYI CRMCw-ColSm Jeff Nolder, MSPT Director of Physical Medicine and Rehab Cherokee Regional Medical Center (fax) From: PTManager [mailto:PTManager ] On Behalf Of Marcia Stalvey Sent: Thursday, January 14, 2010 7:05 AM To: NeuroPT ; PTManager Subject: PT-PTA ratios in various practice settings I would like to ask what are common ratios for PT to PTAs in your practice settings? I work in a rehabilitation hospital with associated (hospital based) outpatient sites. We are being asked to reexamine our staffing patterns which tend to be PT heavy. We have had difficulties recruiting PTAs for a variety of reasons (e.g availability in our region, relatively low pay vs SNFs, weekend work required ) but make a concerted effort hire when them when ever we have an opening. I am curious to hear how others are managing. Thanks in advance for your responses. Guest guest
Be sure to check your state practice act or board rules. In Tennessee a PT may supervise no more than 3 PTA's (FTE's). Your state's rules may limit your decisions. Newton, PT In a message dated 1/13/2010 5:57:51 P.M.
