This sounds to me like he does not tolerate the DMSA. Is this pure

DMSA, or does it contain fillers or other things? You might need to

use a different type of DMSA, or a different chelator.

Dana,

The DMSA was not compounded, just powdered capsule mixed in very tart

lemonade (he has lemonade on occasion without issue). Do you think it was the

DMSA he cannot tolerate, or the Oil or Oregano I was using to try to keep

yeast down during chelation? Or you think the lack of appetite & throwing up

is a DMSA problem? If so, what would I do for chelation?

Thank you,

Michele

hummm --- it could be either one.

ALA, of course ;)

Isn't just using ALA risky? Especially for an 8yr old who may have lots of

metals in his body as well as brain?

Thanks,

Michele

If you did both new at the same time, could have been either one.

Plus if he had yeast and the die off was too strong for him, could

have caused him to throw up. Are you still giving the oregano? If

so, is he still throwing up?

>>

No, I stopped the oregano. He did have one more dose the next day but he was

making faces on taking it so I suspect it might have been making him sick. I

stopped his 1st round of DMSA the night before though. He's been fine ever

since. He's slowly gotten his appetite back.

Thanks,

Michele

I am chelating my 8yo with just ALA, altho he is not as metal toxic as

my other kids. But my personal *opinion* only, is that it is still

less risky than using DMSA. You are of course free to believe

otherwise =)

If I consider this, should I be concerned about mercury going back into the

brain? He is very mercury toxic with no recent exposure I'm aware of. He does

have other metals as well.

Thanks,

Michele

Might be.

I use ALA.

Good luck.

Well that is good news.

For your next round, if you try DMSA again, use something else for

yeast and see if that helps.

Hi Michele,

I don't think it is especially risky, if he has not had recent exposure

to mercury.

In theory, you are asking to compare 2 risks, neither of which

can be quantified or measured in a linear way, by any means that

I know of. So, I can't help you there. That is, I can't say

" in x case there is a y% chance of blah blah blah " .

best wishes,

Moria

I had that concern which is why I started with very low dose and

worked up. I have never seen any problems.

Good luck.

I started with 25 mg, every 8 hours. My son was age 5-1/2 at the

time, and weighed around 48 pounds.
