Guest guest
Pin-X,which is OTC but rather expensive, I think. There is another med called " Reese's " that is the same active ingredient. One dose for my kids and hubby. 3 doses for me (at two week intervals). I take some low-dose immunosuppressant meds, so I am probably a juicy target for many different parasites. Or maybe it is harder for adults to get rid of it?? Don't know. I do know Pin-X tastes really bad. . . two person job to get it into an ASD kid if she/he doesn't take meds well. --Lissy -- In , jmg <jajgelm@s...> wrote: > Lissy, > What finally worked to rid the pinworms for you? > Thanks, > Jill G. Guest guest
Forgot to add: I have become hypervigilant about housekeeping--- apparently those eggs can last a long time. We are currently replacing carpet with hard-surface flooring that can be cleaned more thoroughly (and no antimony!). If someone in household has current infection, all undies washed in HOT water and bleached. When taking sheets off beds to wash, be careful not to shake about the room. Fold inward into a pile and stick in washer just like that. Some sources recommend vaccuming with no one else in the room and with you wearing a mask----eggs are very light and can become airborne, breathed in and ingested that way. --Lissy

Guest guest
No problem. Hey, if you can't talk about the worms in your butt with a couple thousand of your closest friends, what's free speech worth anyway?? :^p Lissy -- In , jmg <jajgelm@s...> wrote: > Lissy, > Can't thank you enough. > Jill > > " alusin009 " wrote: > > > Forgot to add: I have become hypervigilant about housekeeping--- > > apparently those eggs can last a long time. Guest guest
excellent info, I've never heard of people getting these before, however since my dd was dx'd, nothing surprises me anymore. Are you saying she possibly has pin worms, bc she is grinding her teeth? Yes. We tried upping the supplements first, tho. Try to see the worms with the flashlight at night or put on the sticky tape. Notice if your child is itching there a lot. (They itch horrendously, especially right as you are trying to go to sleep.) > Just trying to clarify this thing here. Guest guest
Ok, I'm ROFLMAO! I have another question though, been following this with interest... any other symptoms? My son has foul breath that keeps coming and going. He has increased in licking his toys the last few days as well as the tooth grinding thing. He gets zinc supps and I added magnesium, but these don't seem to be affecting it. Lynn > No problem. Guest guest
Not that I noticed----except maybe a general " itchness " all over, that did not appear to be dry skin and was not relieved by lotion. One of her first phrases (as they started to come in with chelation) was " got an itchy. " > > I have another question though, been following this with interest... > > any other symptoms? For one of my kids, these symptoms would mean he is eating a bad food/supplement, or he has a yeast issue. Dana
Guest guest
> I looked all over the place for the Pin-x that Lissy had explained. NO one here in the sticks carries it. I did find out that GSE works just as well though. I knew T had yeast, but was more concerned with the teeth grinding that was something very new to her. However, I'm " scorching the earth " with GSE and it seems that the symptoms are going away, all except the hyperactivity - probably die off. She's getting better so we'll start over again with all the probiotics. She's getting better so we'll start over again with all the probiotics. GSE is high phenol, so the hyper you are seeing might be from that. You can try reducing the dose of GSE, or consider adding No-Fenol enzyme http://www.houstonni.com/ Dana

I think it's just cuz her little body's all wierd right now. I always know (NOW anyways) when she has yeast or something else going on by her behaviors and bms. I've learned alot from you. Thanks so much!!! Guest guest
I noticed this message and am curious--i did not see any pinworms in my son's stool. Would you be able to see the worms pass in the stool? He has been grinding his teeth for several months and had fitfull sleep. He says his bottom is " hot " but not itchy. Any advice? Also, I bought PINX but haven't given it as it contains aluminum. Thanks for help. > Someone just asked me how to know if their child had pinworm and my > return message keeps bouncing back, so here goes: > > I would first consider if there was a " route of infection " . Guest guest
I don't think you would see them in the stool---they are too tiny. You might see them in the underwear in the morning if you look. Apparently the females leave the anal opening to crawl out and lay eggs, and then some lose their way back and die. Check white shorts or pull-ups in the am. My daughter never described " hotness " of the bottom, but then she is only somewhat verbal. They usually itch. She has had night waking occasionally for a long while as she is phenol sensitive. You may want to check a post by andrew several days back in response to this thread----he listed some supplements that may need to be addressed for you. I think the pinworms were truly it in our case, because the teeth-grinding stopped abruptly when we treated for pinworm. I think parasites such as pinworm must have some sort of subtle biochemical effect on us, which our kids might be unusually sensitive to. Maybe they interfere with certain pathways that andrew's list of supplements helps with----I don't know. I didn't even notice the aluminum in Pin-X!!!! . . .and I'm usually a pretty careful label reader. I can tell you that I tried out some herbal remedies, (black walnut hull, wormwood, garlic, etc.) when the first dose of Pin-X didn't do it for me---nothing worked. I wound up taking three consecutive doses---probably not a good idea. --Lissy > I noticed this message and am curious--i did not see any pinworms in > my son's stool.
