Guest guest
-not sure which list to post this to, but i'll go for both for now as i started telling all of you.... Georgi was discharged fron S'oton General today, she has appendicitis which they have decided to treat initially with antibiotics, as she has a large inflamed mass of bowel which is all stuck to her appendix -to the extent that the actual appendix is not visible on ultrasound. This would make it quite hazardous to operate at this point, though if the pain or fever recurs they will do so straight away. She has to have the antibiotics for 2 weeks and then be reassessedin a months time, then we will decide with the surgeons whether they will remove her appendix or leave it as it is and hope it does not recurr. She is *so* much better after 48+hrs on the antibiotics, but still incredibly weak and wobbly! Last night I was in with her and she slept through till 7am for the first time in weeks! The surgeon at SG told us that appendiciis in small children is very rare, and because it presents with fever and often D & V it was no wonder that the initial diagnosis was gastroenteritis, of course with hindsight!!...... anyway, we are just thankful that it was spotted -thanks to a persistant Paed at RHCH, sadly though not before poor ols G had a Lumbar puncture (which failed to yield any fluid anyway) and a battery of blood tests! We have had a great insite into hospitals too, being moved around so much! Last night we were moved to the Paed Oncology Ward, as ther was a bed shortage and G was the only " clean " patient who could be moved there -I am so gretaful she only has appendicitis after seeing the kids there -but the staff were fantastic, and the facilities for parents top rate. Must go eat now! Thank you all so much for all your thoughts prayers and messages -they have been *much* appreciated, love, Angi HAPPY EASTER
