Guest guest
Barry; Amarillo Medical Services is a 911 service provider for Amarillo. It is the only provider in the city and has been there for approximately 10 plus years. I think it is disgraceful what they are doing. A person can work for Mcs for the same rate of pay ($6.50), not have the responsibility, and not have to go to school to achieve this. Since the change from county hospital to private hospital everyone knew something was going to happen to EMS but I don't think this was ever seen. Danny L. Guest guest
I too agree that NWTH has made a " HUGH " mistake. It's a slap in the face to every Paramedic in this State. I think some companies think only of the bottom line and forget about the real people involved. I wonder if they could raise a family on $6.00 an hour? Guest guest
Absolutely frapping disgraceful. Are they gonna ask the cops to carry a stun gun only? Is the FD going to only carry portable extinguishers? If they don't all haul ass as a group, then they get what's coming to them. Surely, there are other $6.50 an hour jobs in Amarillo, huh? I don't know about Amarillo, but there isn't a glut of Paramedics around here. This is the time to band together guys. magnetass sends Re: amarillo.com | Local News: NWTHS money woes stri ke paramedi... > Barry; > Amarillo Medical Services is a 911 service provider for Amarillo. Guest guest
OK I agree that there are not very many good unions in Texas but you do have the Pilots Union for AA and Southwest Airlines, the Flight Attendants union for AA, the mechanics union, the baggage handlers union... I do not like the UAW, especially when the person that sweeps the floor at the plant can make more than the Engineers that design the car. Texas is a right to work state which also means that it is a right to not work state. The nursing shortage in this state has increased the salaries for RNs. With cities like Austin paying good salaries for good medics, Grand Prairie looking for Medics that are interested in becoming fire fighters, many organizations around Houston that have volunteer firefighters and pay well for part time medics, the number of medics that are converting to RNs, there is going to be a change. This is one of the problems in Texas. Too many EMS personnel do not care about the others as long as they are ok. Even the cashiers at Wal-Mart will make more money. I guess I could be a problem because I volunteer but I love doing this but can not live on the wages. I volunteer at a department that is paid and I am not taking any position but I do help with relief especially after a hard fire. Hey Louis this sounds like it is between you and me now. This sounds like something we can discuss at EMStock.
