Guest guest
Fish oil with high EPA is an extremely good anti-coagulant. EPA is 1. anti-arrhythmic 2. anti-thrombotic 3. anti-inflammatory [ ] Coagulation Disorders-Supplements? Dr. Jeff Bradstreet, in his DAN presentation 200l, Biological Interventions, mentioned coagulation disorders as an issue in autism. He talked about getting an ISAC panel drawn and tested through Hemex Laboratories. He also stated that there were a number of natural supplements that could be used in the treatment of these coagulation disorders. My child has done the ISAC test (no results yet). If the test shows there is a problem, the dr. plans to treat with low dose heparin. I'm a little leery of long term treatment with a drug. Does anyone know what supplements Dr. Bradstreet is talking about? Thanks for any help! You guys are a real treasure trove of information. Too bad we can't turn more pediatricians on to our way of thinking. =======================================================
Guest guest
Sorry but I get really tired of hearing that line from the mainstream: " we don't know what causes it and don't know how to treat it " . Maybe in this instance it is different but I have heard that one too many times!
Guest guest
Depending on the type of coagulation, turmeric and bromelaine also affect coagulation. Specifically fibrinogen. According to Dr. Brewer, an infectious disease specialist in Kansas City that I went to, and who has worked with the guy that runs HEMEX laboratories that does the ISAC tests on research, he told me that garlic, Vitamin E, and large doses of Vitamin C also have some anticoagulation effects. He mentioned a few other supplements at the time, but I don't recall all that he said. lindaj@... Guest guest
I have an older friend who became a hemopheliac (sp?) about a year ago. That's where he get's bleeds for no reason and he continues to bleed under the skin. Is this the same thing as a coagulation disorder? Guest guest
It is one type of coagulation disorder, but I think that the type of coagulation disorders that they're talking about here primarily involve too MUCH clotting of the blood, either from excess fibrinogen, or not enough enzymes to break down the fibrinogen, or from sticky platelets, or other clotting factors. On the other hand, I've never heard of someone becoming hemophiliac. I thought that was an inherited disorder that a person was born with. lindaj@... Guest guest
It is very rare. They don't know what causes it and don't really know how to treat it. He can start bleeding for no reason. It gets very painful since the blood pools up and causes a lot of pressure. He's pretty much bed ridden, but on his good days he can sit in the living room. Guest guest
Mu 9yo daughter was diagnosed with Von Willebrands shortly after her autism diagnosis. It never made sense to me since it is an inherited defect, usually. We do not have it in either side of our families, nor do I or my husband have it. On doing some research, I did find that it can be an Acquired defect usually as part of an Autoimmune Disorder. Meg also had basophillic stippling (I recently found out) at that same time, which usually is associated with lead poisoning. I beleive it is all connected with toxic metal poisoning. C.
