Guest guest
Kind of wishy washy, huh? I'm curious to know how we KNOW autism is caused by genes and have KNOWN if for ten years? Now, I personally believe there are genetics involved but hasn't the research on genes been pretty inconclusive like there are so many possible genes and none have seemed to panned out yet when looked at closely. Am I missing some big finding ten years ago that showed the autism was definitely genetic or is she just passing off another theory as fact? Geez, there are no genetic epidemics! Even if you're not convinced it's vaccinations playing a roll, wouldn't it be in everyone's best interest to prove this once and for all. With so many people concerned about this link, it's time for someone to stop skirting around the issues and stand firm and say once and for all " I'm concerned that there's an autism/vaccine and link and I want you to prove to ME that there isn't. Guest guest
Maybe we also need a group called SCANDAL! (Stop Causing Autism Now, Don't Allow Lies!) After all toxins alter genes, just not always the same ones. Guest guest
Sorry to jump in so late on this thread, but I was in San Diego this weekend and am only now catching up. In any case, her comments were right inline with what seems to be the CAN stance, i.e. thimerosal, MMR, etc. theories are 'plausible'. So they're spending their resources on the genetics question. What bothers me about it is that it makes the autism community seem so fragmented, and hence vulnerable to a 'divide and conquer' attack. I'm glad someone is looking into the genetics question; it just bothers me that it is such a huge investment compared to nearly every other area of autism related research. It also bothers me that people can confuse DAN with CAN, and vice versa, and end up inadvertantly supporting an area of autism research completely different from what they intend to support.
