Enhansa is high in phenol/salicylate and could be causing the red circles.

I have a 6yr old boy who was diagnosed with Speech Delay and SI at the age of 3 and then with a new diagnosis of PDD-NOS at the age of 5yr.We are seeing a DAN Dr., (since April) and his current therapy is ABA.

Our first go around with supplements went well- D3, Magnesium Cream,Boron,Zinc,Chromium,Digestive Enzyme,Custom Probiotic,Dyflucan,Methyl B-12.... we had to take him off of Methyl B-12, said he was high methylator. Had great success, behaviors went away, stools getting better.

The dyflucan was stopped for a couple of months and Dr. added Enhansa and NAC. This is when behaviors came back, giggling, voice stemming, high oral sensory issues, bed wetting, lack of eye contact, focusing issues began at school.

Started Dyflucan back immediately along with Epson salt baths stopped the NAC. Sensory issues got better, vocal stimming got better, eye contact better for a while then came back... Dr. lowered dose of Enhansa, added antibiotic. Still need to add colostrum and elderberry.

He seems to be stabilizing except for the attention and focus issues at school. Staying on task is a bit difficult as well. I'm sorry for such a long email, very new to biomedical therapy and still doing a ton of research to figure out what is going on and what will work best for my son. The Dr. thinks he is a strep carrier and has a constant battle between strep and yeast, I think.

He was doing so well before we started the Enhansa, he is on 600mg a day and I feel like this is when the big changes happened and I feel like its taking my son to a darker place than he has ever been before. The difference in his labs are metals got higher, potassium high, calcium low and liver enzyme count was high. Do I need to take him off of the Enhansa? Is this supplement harmful? Any advice would be so helpful, another thing I didn't mention is he is very pale, red circles around the eyes and he is not having daily BM's like he was before.

So sorry for such a looong email, any advice welcome!! Thanks.Best Regards,

Hey ,

We had similar issues. We had taken Jimmy off of B12 for a while, (not sure of

his methylator status) -- and we saw some gains (we also were doing other

things) and due to lack of attention and focus, we put him on the Feingold

Elimination --which has worked wonders for him.

Recently, due to this 'jargon' that he has (almost like a 'blip' in his speech

when he can't find the words) we decided to try B12 (in sublingual form), and

his jargon disappeared, and then seems to reappear when the red circles show up

(so I give more B12 and the jargon goes away again, so do the circles)...I do

wonder if they are related...(Jimmy is almost 4, we started biomed when he was

2.5, he is managed recovered)

While Jimmy is still in speech, his therapist is going to do an eval when he

turns 4 in January, and we are hopeful that it's just an eval every 6 months for

the next year.

What I have found is that when you take care of one thing other things seem to

show up that weren't there before -- but get better as you 'fix' things and get

closer to recovery...but being open to going back to supplements that may not

have worked in the past, can be helpful...(we do this a lot!)

I hope this helps.

Hi- thanks for your reply. What is phenol? My 3yr old daughter gets these red rings around her eyes as well-not as bad... has no diagnosis and she is not on any supplement schedule. Another common factor is they both are pale in color and both have the rough bumpy skin on the backs of arms. I'm not sure I like the Enhansa- will use if it will help him in getting better- but seems to be intensifying his behaviors. Should I bring the NAC back? Sorry for so many questions- I feel like I don't know what I'm doing and following Dr's advice. Its scary when I see neg changes that have not been a problem or existing ones get worse. The only problem that I know for sure is Yeast and is a strepA carrier. Hi ,Thank you for giving this information. The reason we tool him off of methyl B-12 was it made him very hyper and even tried the topical.Doc said he was an over methylator. I am certainly willing to trying again. You mentioned Feingold Elimination- I will have to look into this. I don't know anything about what this is.My 3yr old daughter has the 'blip' in speech-almost like a st udder, just can't seem to find the words she needs to use. Yes, this is for . I've added No-Phenol.

Since I've added Enhansa, we have urine control, the fogginess is gone, and so

is the foot fungus.

Feingold elimination addresses salicylates, which are a type of phenol. Feingold is the ADHD diet from back in the 70s, the one where you might have heard of mom or grandma removing colors from the diet. The Feingold plan is an elimination diet for the most part, meaning, you remove the stuff from the diet for 4-6 weeks to see improvements and then one by one add things back to see if the child tolerates.

The stage one part of the diet has you eliminate a lot of fruits which will cause most people to freak LOL (ie remove ALL berries, apples, oranges, grapes - approved fruits are a lot of tropical types - mango, pineapple - and lemons, limes, grapefruit, pomegranate)

We saw improvement in a week and after several weeks, my daughter's black/red circles under her eyes were gone... watermelon is a stage one approved food but my daughter reacts to it too. She CAN eat some apples, not granny smith; Grapes cause her real problems.... headaches, meltdowns, sound sensitivity. I wouldn't be surprised to see that on her IGG or even IGE if we had done that test. (Waiting on IGG results)

Some people use Feingold for tourette's and seizure disorders as well.

In my opinion, if he was doing better before the Enhansa, then take him off the

Enhansa. You can always try it again later. But there might be issues arising

from the Enhansa as someone else said like phenols, etc. If he gets better when

you remove the enhansa, then you know it's the culprit.

My son was speech delay with some SI too. After we figured out his very unique

diet, it all went away. My son is GFCFSG, corn free, egg free, peanut free,

nonorganic chicken free, and quinoa free. He tests allergic to the peanuts,

eggs, corn. He has proven intollerant of the rest through trial and error

journaling. For us, the main key was the food. OUr kid didn't show IGE

allergies until after we cleared out the gluten and casein. I think that for

many their bodies are too inflamed to test positive in the beginning. Keep

playing with the food. Get IGE allergy tests every 6 to 9 months which should

be covered by most insurance. We don't do the IGG tests since we have done well

with just noting what happens when food is given. We also use Houston Enzymes

which take the trace elements out of foods. If you haven't seen their free DVD,

it is worth a watch. www.houston-enzymes.com Even if you already use another

enzyme, the DVD has good info in it. Good luck

Ah, grapes are HELL in my house. No Grapes. LOL! And Jimmy can tolerate a

little watermelon, but honestly, I give it maybe once a month just because he

asks for it. He doesn't really get any side effects other than flushed

cheeks...(any thoughts on that one?)

Feingold has really been the icing on the cake for us. And this new found B12

that gets rid of the jargon has been like this little miracle...I am hoping to

get it on video to show his DAN. When I do, I will post to You Tube so you can

see it for yourself...it's wild.

As well as Feingold, I track our intake of oxalates (keeping them low) and also

do gf/cf/sf (and mostly corn free, except, sometimes I do let him have some

organic corn chips w/guac.) and IGg panel free.

Hi ,

Can you please let us know the brand of the sublingual B12 that has helped get

rid of the jargon? Also how much is the dosing and does it need to be kept under

the tongue vs swallowing? My son is only used to swallowing pills but we haven't

had much success with sublingual stuff.

Thanks,

Umesh
