Virus mutation

So I read that if you stop an anti-viral the virus will mutate. I think for

people with herpes, outside of autism, taking valtrex, they can take it only

when they have an outbreak which would be when the virus is replicating. Is

there an assumption that the herpes virus is active and replicating in the

brain? Why would it mutate?

Also why would many kids get better on the NeuroSensory program that uses low

dosages, like 1 capsule of acylovir per day and 1 amantadine? Not all get

better but for sure there are kids getting better with this. Or why would a

child need high doses like on the NIDS protocol? And how do the 2 protocols, in

terms of how the anti-virals work differ?
