I've had bursitis in many of my busae, and it always comes and goes within a

few days. It never stays. Tendonitis may become chronic, but I didn't think

bursitis did.

Has he checked you for Piriformis Syndrome. It isn't often diagnosed, but it

isn't rare.

C here. I had a hip replacement 2 years ago at the age of 44. It was

very ironic that the day I came home from the hospital there was an article

about hip problems in CMT patients. It said that hip replacement was

indicated for a very large number of CMT patients. I also wear Birkenstocks

when I don't wear my AFOs.

Hi, Julee. Carolyn here.

I got distracted a few minutes ago in the process of sending a post

to you. Forgive me if I'm sending the same stuff again.

I too have hip pain, especially on the same side as where I have a

badly skewed knee also due to osteoarthritis. I think it's also

osteoarthritis, because it responds well to anti-inflammatory meds.

Also, both hips pop when I do flexibility leg lifts and bending. But

believe it does help to keep limber.

Just some thoughts,

Carolyn

hello. i am new to this group. in fact, i just joined tonight. i

am currently recovering from my second hip replacement. my right hip

was replaced when i was 39. it was at this time that i was diagnosed

with CMT1A. before that, i just assumed that i was clumsy. i am now

43.

i was rather surprised to see the number of replies to your letter.

i had the impression that hip dysplasia was just a coincidence in my

case. i do not know if this makes me feel better or worse.

yes, there was major improvement after the replacement. nearly like

night and day. all of the pain was gone. not only in my hip, but

also in my back (my limp had begun to pull my back out of

alignment). it took several months to regain all of the strength in

the leg because of the trauma to the tendon that runs down the

inside. but all it required was walking and riding a bicyle.

in summary, i am very pleased with my new hip. my only regret was

tha i waited so long (fear) the first time. for the second, i had

the replacement as soon as the pain became continuous. so far, so

good on my recovery from the second.
