Yup. That's Cocoa the Survivor Kitty - summer before last we found a

litter of 4, about 3 weeks old, that 2 mama cats had stolen back and forth

until they were scattered all through the outbuildings. We brought them in,

started bottle-feeding them, one died pretty quick. We took the rest to the

vet, discovered they all had feline panleukopenia (kind of " kitty Parvo " )

and were going to die (99.99999% kill rate in cats under 1 year, not much

better for young adults).

We did our best anyway, lost 2 more, but Cocoa the Survivor (plus about

$1000 in vet fees, medicines, etc) grew from a scrawny little scrap with

half his hair fallen out to that ginormous guy you see there....

He steals jewelry and teddy bears, thinks my biscuit-hound dog is his

" twin " , and likes strawberry yogurt better than chicken....

We haven't figured out yet why he wants the jewelry - he takes it and

drops it somewhere (so far I haven't vacuumed up anything important!). The

teddies he usually drags down on the bed, wrestles with them, and then

cuddles up to sleep, but sometimes (like the picture) he grabs one and runs

from the bedroom with it, growling all the way like he has a mouse or

something.

We keep telling him a big strong cat like him shouldn't like

teddies and pink yogurt, but he ain't listening!

When we brought our first cat home, Thotmes was her name, the first thing she did when we let her out in our apartment was to collect all the teddies in the apartment, put them all under our bed, and then lie down amidst them. She spent the first hour or so there. She wasn't the bravest of cats, and apparently she needed to collect a little courage and teddy-sympathy before she started to explore her new home for real... The spending the first time in one place or room only was completely according to the book on how kitties adopt to new places, but the gathering of soft toy animals first was her own addition. We thought it was really cute. Our second cat had obviously not read the book, because she was everywhere from second one, and managed to accidentally take a bath in the bath tub within minutes (ran into the bathroom, jumped into the tub without being bothered by that she had no idea at all what was in it, and landed in a tub full of water)... There is bravery, and then there is...well...being less than thoughtful... But we thought that was kind of cute too.

Yeah, my Razzie had probably *literally* saved my life this winter. I *had* to take care of her, feed her, change her water...etc...so staying in bed for a week or so just wasn't possible. And she provided me with a huge amount of comfort, every night when I go to bed she is right there, purring, knitting, loving...
