Guest guest
Hi all, I was wondering if I could hear some feedback from those who live alone or totally manage their own medicines. I've just had an incident where the doctor proscribed the wrong version of Metformin I was taking. I was on two 500 Metformin twice a day. Well he gave me a proscription for Metformin 1000 and it was the generic Metformin. So for 15 days I took two 1000 Metformin twice a day. I was thrilled at the numbers I was getting but didn't think much about the medicine. Well I ran out and went back to the pharmacy to get the Metformin refilled and they said sorry you have to contact the doctor for a new proscription. So now I have to call the doctor and try to explain the mistake. I'm pretty shy and am having a hard time trying to call the doctor. And I hate to give up those great numbers like 97 and 110 fasting numbers. I know the amount I was taking was over the recommended levels so understand having to go back to what I was originally taking. I said all this just to say. I guess I have to be more aggressive with the pharmacy when I pick up my drugs to make sure they are they right amount. How do others handle this? I think it was the doctor and the pharmacy who dropped the ball because the pharmacy has on record and even told me that they saw that this proscription was wrong but they gave it to me anyway. But now they are both are going to make like its my fault and I'm a little annoyed about that. Thanks for any feedback. Ricky Joe
