Guest guest
Hello Group, For those of you who have an ad in the yellow pages, do you feel that it is cost effective? Has your ad actually brought in enough business to make it worth the cost? Finally, if you do believe that the yellow pages is a good marketing tool, what size ad do you recommend? Thank you in advance. Balan Solex Physical Therapy & Wellness Center Naples, FL abalan@...
Guest guest
I have reduced the yellow page size over the years to the smallest size, about 1 inch I think. Our intake form asks how did you hear about us, and only about one patient a year writes yellow pages. Guest guest
I currently take the smallest yellow pages ad possible. I'm teetering as to whether I will use it at all next year. It is definitely not a marketing tool. But, occasionally someone looks for it....I'm suspicious that only the spurious yellow page advertisers may be using it to send their annoying invoices. Guest guest
, I am skeptical, at best, about the use of yellow pages ads for purposes of generating new business. The #1 reason I hear from practice owners for advertising in the yellow pages is fear. Many practice owners have stated that they are there simply in the yellow pages because their competitors are there and they are afraid of not showing up next to their ad. There is actually some merit to this, but alone it's not enough to justify the marketing expenditure in my opinion. When it comes to advertising dollars, it's important to be able to quantify the return on investment that you are getting. With use of the yellow pages, unless you are actively documenting each new patient that comes in based on the ad, and it shows up to be worthwhile - then I would recommend against it. If you see that it does pencil out, then by all means it is a good investment. One thing that I have seen quite often that disturbs me about the yellow pages companies is that they have begun to bundle their print advertisement with the 'benefit' of an online ad. In actuality, this is not much of a benefit, and can actually hurt the visibility of a practice. The yellow pages companies upsell this feature to practice owners as a way to show up under the 'organic' search listings so that they will be more easily found online. The trick that they can play though, is that these listings will not link to your website - but to theirs - so what you get is traffic that may never visit your website because they stop at the site created by the yellow pages company (this would only ever make sense if you didn't have a website to begin with, and the site they created for you was better than nothing at all). This helps their search rankings - not yours - and I've seen it come at a hefty monthly cost in many cases. My recommendations are to (1) make sure you can calculate an ROI on your yellow pages investment, and if you can't - consider investing your marketing dollars elsewhere; and (2) make sure you are not paying extra to your yellow pages company to have them set up a virtual website for you if you have a good website that exists - there are better ways to be found online such as search engine optimization of your website and local search advertising. I hope this helps.
