Guest guest
Yuka- You are so insightful! I could have cried reading your post. You took me right through the process with you. It's amazing how each of us handles these traumas differently. I had not thought of what we go through as leading to Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome, but now I can see how that might be. I sure did my share of grieving in the first years. It still comes back to haunt me ocassionally, but I think I got the worst of it out right from the start. Let's hope :-) I still get twangs of fear and sadness, but it's not overwhelming anymore. The overwhelming feelings now are just that -- overwhelmed -- with all the appts, the time it takes to stay on top of everything -- fear that I won't be able to keep up or that I won't do a good job, etc. Oh well-- I'm not in a time or place this afternoon to delve into it deeply... Guest guest
, Our original orders (so long ago 15 months) were for Ft. Meade, NSA. CHris was at Defense Language Institute in Monterey for language. Since we were already on teh west coast, they sent us here so and Tanis could be seen at Balboa Naval Medical Center. If they had PCS'd us east, we would have been in your area or ville with Dianne. is still requesting east coast, but they are slow in getting us there. I was actually told that Tanis was the hold up on orders. That they had to find a hospital that met his needs. On his request asked for Athens GA, Naval School. However, the Navy said no, not a hospital compatible. The next time gets to ask for someplace, I am sending info on the Children's Hospitals, doctors/care for Tanis and what medical help will need. Maybe that will get us closer to the boys (Jefferson/Atlanta, GA). Is 's ToF repaired? If so, when? How old is he again? Tanis had a modified Blalock/Taussig Shunt at 4 weeks and a complete repair (including scar tissue and a closed shunt) at 11 months. He still has mild pulmonary stenosis, but is doing great. I still look to see if he turns blue though--22 months later. He has so much energy (wish I could bottle it and sell it or use it), but hasn't gained but 12 pounds in those 22 months. He is 33 months now. So hard to believe he is so " old " . Carolyn Mother of Tanis 2 CHARGE and Denny 3 months and wife to Chris

Guest guest
Carolyn, We actually were trying to go to Pensacola. It was awful because I even spoke with the people at Sacred Heart Children's Hospital and they were completely able to care for him, but the Navy said no. But we've got it pretty good up here, and I think my husband is done greiving instructor duty! We're a category 5 EFMP, so we can go to Norfolk, ville, Seattle, San Diego, or DC. Let me know if you think you may come here and I can tell you all the doctor info!

Guest guest
I understand about not going where we want to. They told us that even though we are EFM Cat IV, that we can only go to Cat V places--same ones as you. We had hoped if not Athens, then Pensacola. Pensacola was even mentioned but got scrubbed. I went to college there and my nursing major friends all did their student work at Sacred Heart. We only have 1 1/2 years left. Looks like they may leave us here til then. Don't know. Depends on what they find out about Chris. Thanks for the help though. Carolyn mother of Tanis 2 CHARGE and Denny 3 months
