Big appointment with internist yesterday. We went over all my meds, all my conditions, every imaginable (and some unlikely) symptom, pain level, numbness in legs and feet, the works. Summary of ophthalmologist'sreport, gastroenterologist's report, orthopedist's report, yada, yada. Then, my internist sat bag, grinning from ear to ear, and said: "Looks like that pneumonia is gone, and you are doing prettywell! From my doctor's point of view, he is right. However, although my SSDI remains thesame, my SSI was cut in half, Meals-on-Wheels suddenly disappeared, and thecupboard is bare. But I am still here, have paid Comcast, and decided that all in all things are indeedpretty good.Besides, I am almost 72! (Of course my ownmother lived to 103, my father to 97; I do keepwondering whether we shall even have medicalcare should I live much longer, but all in all, things are pretty good. I even lost 10 lbs. I get ample SSDI/Medicare and some SSI/Medicaid,but to have my small amount of SSI cut in half withoutnotice (this is a California budget problem and will onlyget worse) threw me a bit, and then when Meals-on-Wheelssuddenly (accidentally) dropped me, that was a bit much. They delivered two meals to me today, though they owedme a meal a day from 05/13/09, so the crisis is more orless past. My landlord was wonderful about letting me pay the rent late--as I do budget but had no knowledgeuntil two weeks after the fact of the SSI cut!I have no real complaint. I will do fine, and if my incomewarrants it, they will reduce my rent for next month and possibly reduce what I paid for this month. And yes, Idid get the $250.00 "stimulust payment,"

or I would reallyhave gone under. Here the SSDI money includes what one would have otherwise been eligible for in food stamps.I am definitely o.k. YAAAY! I get the meals too, MOSt of the time they *suck* quite honestly but their raviolis are great! As are their pasties...They have NO IDEA how to cook pork, and the "offering" yesterday I still haven't figured out...the meals I don't eat, though, do not go to waste, I have a neighbor who never seems to have enough $ for food (ok, she *does* have enough for a cell phone and Internet and a big gas-guzzling truck), and while she does squander, she also has many health problems, so I call them every so often and pass over the meals I've been storing in the freezer. That, somehow, often coincides with the Schwan's delivery...when I need the freezer space...sometimes I take them and eave them in the fridge of the "common room" with a "take me...free!" note...in either case they do get eaten, just not always by ME. ANYWAY, n, I am SO glad you got your M-o-W back... ~*~ Akiba~*~ ~*~Pragmatic Visionary~*~ The World revolves aroung the Sun My World revolves around My Son Beautiful Salt lamps and Salt products: http://www.affiliates-natural-salt-lamps.com/pages/156.php -- O.K. My friend is pretty much the only local person I really trust, and every month or so she'll go to the pharma to get my meds (Motrin and lyrica), since I know if She gets them they will ALL get here and not be "skimmed". Well she was going for me today, and I have had such a yen for fresh fruit of late, I gave her my EBT card and said if she finds any strawberries or melon on sale to please use my card and pick me up some. Well, she did, and she got me TWO quarts of strawberries (at $2 each) and a beautiful Cantelope...all of the fruit is SO aromatic and lovely...and I have enough I can just sit and eat fruit...nothing better in the world, my friend...the ONLY thing that could make it better would be to have Robbin here sharing them with me! ~*~ Akiba~*~ ~*~Pragmatic Visionary~*~ The World revolves aroung the Sun My World revolves around My Son Beautiful Salt lamps and Salt products: http://www.affiliates-natural-salt-lamps.com/pages/156.php -- O.K. Great to hear that you are through with pneumonia. We all worried about you dear n. I dont understand about the social security system in the US, so, no comment. But when it comes to age, I can say that you are at the beginning of mid age since life span has exceeded due to better health conditions.

Hope to hear good news from you.
