So what did all ya'all do with your Saturday?

I got up and worked out at Curves and then off to the Y where somehow I

pulled an extra long workout. I don't feel like I burned any more

calories. I think I was just slow, but it was still a good workout.

Then I came home and wrote lesson plans on DNS Implementation in Windows

2003 (settle down folks, settle down...I know that's too much excitement

for one day). That took me a good six hours, which actually isn't too

bad. I'm a start to finish kind of gal when it comes to lesson plans. I

lose my focus if I try to write over a few days, so I try to do each

unit all at once because then I have the material fresh and I can easily

go back and modify if something comes clearer, or better yet if

something doesn't and I realize that they won't get it.

Sorry, I digress. I know, how odd of me.

I do actually enjoy writing lesson plans, though. I'd enjoy it MORE if

someone paid me to do it...

Honey came home for dinner and I made a huge Chinese Chicken Salad that

was awesome because I put in all the veggies I love. After dinner we

tried to get into Staples to get that free teacher goody bag (I can

always use some extra supplies), but they were closed. So we popped over

to the store where I picked up some fresh dill and an onion and I came

home and made pickles!

I haven't canned pickles since I was kid. Every year we put up TONS of

stuff for the winter, and of course for the fair. I made six quarts of

pickles. I was being thrifty and didn't want to buy pint jars so I just

used the quarts I already had. Since it's just the two of us I didn't do

six quarts of the same stuff. Roy's aunt and uncle had brought us some

veggies, so I made:

1 quart of pickled beets and onions

1 quart of garlic basil pickled green beans

4 quarts of hot veggie mix with carrots, green beans, onions, brocolli,

and cauliflower with garlic, peppers, and dill

They look so beautiful! NOthing is prettier than fresh canned veggies or

fruits! I would rather have done pints, but oh well. That would have

been another $9 and I'm so paranoid about money right now with a

potential strike looming (both Roy and I would be striking) that I get

strange about spending money.

Tomorrow he's going to the swap meet, which I just hate, so I'll write

up another unit and then we're going to SEattle for dinner and to see

Pirates of the Caribbean again.
