Guest guest
I believe that the late teens and early 20's must be the hardest time for a woman to be overweight--that there is more prejudice toward the obese at that age than at any other. This surgery can give a chance at a " normal " life during these important years and will affect her positively, both physically and socially for the rest of her life. If she wants to do it and the doctor agrees, then go for it and don't look back!! You can support one another for the rest of your lives--she will never be without someone who completely understands. Each one of us must make the decision for herself. I am envious of the insurance approval. I am very discouraged about my insurance and its stand on obesity. Guest guest
Dear Beth and Dave and others: OSSG stands for Obesity Surgery Support Group. It is a group on Onelist like our MGB group. The web address is OSSGonelist. It is a very high volume group as far as e-mails go and is a moderated list. A lot of people belong to both (and probably more than that) lists. I did for a while but the incoming e-mails got unmanageable # wise so I unsubscribed. There is also a splinter group of OSSG called ossgfriendsonelist This is for " off topic " discussions. By off topic I mean not strictly related to WLS information, doctors, member experiences....it's a lot more informal. A lot of the OSSG list have had open RNY, Vertical Banded Gastroplasty, Fobi Pouch and other WLS so you get a lot of information on a variety of possibilities. It's a good group if you can handle the volume of mail and you can always just lurk to see how things operate before you sign up for the mailing list.
