Guest guest
Hi, Not sure about your specific case but my son tolerated Hydroxy b12 better. To: mb12 valtrex Sent: Fri, December 3, 2010 7:53:42 AMSubject: b12 discontinuation? Just wondering, Has anyone ever had to stop methyl B12 due to their childcrying at times throughout the day about little things? Is this something thatwill go away? Is this a tolerable side effect that Dr. Neubrander talks about,or is this a sign that my 5 year old son really cannot tolerate it? Does this seem more like a yeast issue or a sign that he does poorly with methyl donors? He has beenon transdermal methyl B12 for 3 weeks now and has had these little meltdowns atschool almost every day since starting the transdermal(he goes 3 days/week). Hedoes get the transdermal every day. His teacher says these crying episodes arenot disruptive to the class or anything, but she feels bad for him and they (histeacher and classmates) do spend time trying to help him with whatever he ismelting down about.... finding his lost sticker and getting the right color gluestick. These are the only 2 crying incidents inside the classroom he has hadsince starting the transdermal 3 weeks ago. The other crying episodes happenedbriefly while playing on the playground based on what he has told me. I amseeing gains like more appropriate social behavior, more affection toward me andhis siblings, less impulsivity, and better understanding of cause-and-effect inhis behaviors. I just can't have him crying all the time at school! Has anyoneever had to stop methyl B12 because of increased sadness? Thanks for any adviceyou can give! Guest guest
Are you also using folic acid/folonic? > > Just wondering, Has anyone ever had to stop methyl B12 due to their child crying at times throughout the day about little things? ... Guest guest
We had to stop after about a year. At that point it got to where it was causing behavioral issues, much like you describe. We started out at just every 3 days with the shots and then we went to adding nasal spray on the non-shot days and it worked out great but after a while, not so much. So we stopped it. It's a little over a year later and we recently started back up with hydroxy B12 and at a much lower dose. I now only give it to him once a week. We may increase but right now, we're just seeing how things go. So far, so good. Guest guest
Hi. The main reason I stopped the MB12 injections was because the " chewing " got so out of hand. All of her shirts were ruined. I couldn't afford to keep buying her new clothes. But I will tell you that the " overly emotional " crying occured once or twice a day. Just out of nowhere she would start crying and needed to be comforted. It was like someone hurt her feelings type cry. I am sure that the b12 initially affects emotions. They begin to start " feeling " more. I would like to try them again, I am afraid of missing out on an intervention that may be part of the puzzle. Just my 2 cents!!! Re: b12 discontinuation? Guest guest
No, I am not giving him folic/folinic acid. I tried adding that a year ago when my sot was getting the injections every 3 days, and it made him soooooooo hyper. Why do you ask about the folic acid? > > > > Just wondering, Has anyone ever had to stop methyl B12 due to their child crying at times throughout the day about little things? ... >
Guest guest
Thank you for your " 2 cents! " You describe it well- it's like their feelings are so hurt, and they are so overly sensitive. I'm just trying to figure out if this is actually a good thing that he is feeling more and eventually the oversensitivity will go away as he learns to recognize these emotions or if this a bad thing- maybe a sign of yeast or too much of the mb12 or just something his body cannot tolerate! It's not so much a behavioral thing because his behavior (self-control, social appropriateness, understanding cause-and-effect in his behaviors) has been GREAT..... I just can't have him feeling so hurt and crying at school! Thank you all so much for your thoughts. > > >  > Just wondering, Has anyone ever had to stop methyl B12 due to their > child > crying at times throughout the day about little things? Guest guest
Are you supplementing Zinc? The chewing stopped in about 3 days. > > > > Hi. Guest guest
See: http://adventuresinautism.blogspot.com/2008/12/methyl-b12-and-folinic-acid-raise\ ..html or http://preview.tinyurl.com/mb12article (or you can just google " MB12 folonic " ). I would say we saw immediate improvement. He was more engaged and interactive within 2 doses. > > > > > > Just wondering, Has anyone ever had to stop methyl B12 due to their child crying at times throughout the day about little things? ... > > >
Guest guest
I have just started my daughter on injections every three days and she is emotional and hyper and her language is worse. She is also taking 5mthr which is folinic acid. Could this be causing a problem because I have been suspecting it since we started 2.5 weeks ago. Any experience with this is greatly appreciated. Thanks Jen > > > > > > Just wondering, Has anyone ever had to stop methyl B12 due to their child crying at times throughout the day about little things? ... > > >
Guest guest
My son had a similar reaction years ago to B12 shots. I had to discontinue them because he was waking up when I tried to give them to him. Despite the fact it is the thinnest needle, he was so terrified, I could not do it while he was awake (single parent). Have you considered sublingual or lollipop B12? I have also done those, and do not see any marked improvement with them. >
Guest guest
Did you try the transdermal gel (creme)? I'm very happy with it. > > My son had a similar reaction years ago to B12 shots.
