Guest guest
Pam you are too much!!! Then again I already knew that didn't I? I have to say I laughed just as hard hearing the beginning of the fishing trip story as I did the first time! I don't think that would ever get old! I'll work on the video over the weekend! Guest guest
I've already told the fishing story and the how that little web chair and I almost became an island in the river (if a good swat from with a loaded tackle box hadn't stopped my forward motion)...so I won't bore you again, but here's a little twist on the chair tale..... When I was a Junior in college (as a petite 220 lbs) I tripped in a mad rush of class change going down a flight of stairs in Beam Hall. My leg bent double under me on the 3rd level. I could not move, much less walk. So here I am, wadded up (as much as 220 lbs can wad) on the floor as others stream around me...and have to sit there until a faculty member calls an ambulance....(no elevators in this building...must have been before ADA was passed) and then had to endure the embarrassment of two people trying to heft me and that gurney down 3 flights of stairs, down another set in the embankment and then lift me into the ambulance. They only had to set me down 5 times, before we got to the ambulance and then they enlisted the aid of 3 other guys to get me down to the ambulance in the parking lot. It looked like a funeral procession with Pallbearers!!!!! I felt like Minnie Pearl when asked how many men she was going to have carry her casket to her grave. Her response was: " None. If they wouldn't take me out while I was alive, they ain't taking me out dead " Needless to say, when my mother got to Natchitoches to pick me up to take me to England Air Force Base for treatment, since my Dad was a deceased Veteran, I insisted on hobbling into the emergency room on my own. One ambulance fiasco to the college infirmary was enough!!!!!!! Re: Unusual question >From: Deeba123@... > >Kathy >Yep, had both thighs bruised real good. Guest guest
Amy, I can empathize with your ER story. Afew months ago I was certain that I had an ovarian cyst rupture and a uterine infection. I have gotten them a couple of times a year for about 5 years. The treatment is always the same, a shot of Rocephin and treatment with vicodin or demerol or whatever. Well I had been trying to convince myself I was not getting an infection, but when I started having considerable pain, I knew it was time to get some antibiotics. It was a Sunday, so I just went to an Urgent Care center. The doctor working that evening came in to do a pelvic exam and when I asked him if he could feel the cyst on my ovary, he replied with a chuckle " I can't find your ovaries, you're a little too big for my OB skills. " I was mortified. I did not let him know that he had hurt my feelings, but I cried the entire way home. Where do these doctors get off treating obese patients like they are sub-human? The more I think about it - the more it angers me! I wonder if I could sue him for discrimination? Let me add that I am disgusted by our society and the Sue-happy craze that is going on, but I think people like this doctor, and your X-ray tech, need to learn that it is NOT OK to treat us like that! Anyway, just wanted you to know, you were not alone! Tara Lynn --- AMY HAMLIN wrote: > > > Wow. Pam What a story.
