Guest guest
LOL!! Ah Dave don't you just love customer " service " reps? Most of them can't think outside the little cue sheets they keep in front of them. Glad you got it worked out and I hope you have a wonderful time in Cancun. Guest guest
I travelled a few times while I had IgAN - only to the U.S., but I remember the time a relative got sick in Florida without insurance and it cost her $5000 beyond what Canadian medicare paid for (plus she had to pay upfront and claim it after). I took the chance, with travel medical insurance for things other than IgAN. I mean, barring sudden kidney failure that requires immediate hospitalisation, IgAN itself usually doesn't suddenly make you sick unless you're prone to sudden flareups with heavy proteinuria. Even then, you could probably just fly home earlier. Have a good vacation, Dave. Pierre
Guest guest
Dave, That's a very strange discussion indeed from your travel insurer. I think I would not have even bothered to tell them. As Pierre says, it's nothing so bad that you couldn't fly home first to be treated for. Currently, I apparently am covered under my employer's plan for travel insurance, so I haven't bought travel insurance in the past few years. Have a good time! Guest guest
Hi Sophia, Yeah I realise the risks are small, but being in the UK we don't have insurance through work, well not usually anyway so we like to be covered when we travel! I'm sure I will have a great time thanks ;o) Dave Re: Bit the Bullet! Travel Insurance Dave, That's a very strange discussion indeed from your travel insurer.
