Guest guest
, I am a firm believer in standing up to in-laws. They will make you crazy if you let them. I hate pumping, rarely get very much and its always frustrating. If you don't want to and your dh understands " Screw Em " . Don't do anything that you don't want to. If they want to spend time they can hold him, diaper him, walk him and many other way to love him. This is your special time and you are in control. You have the milk. Good luck, I have tough in laws and I know how hard it can be. Wendi pumping I have yet another question...I am being pressured to pump milk out for feedings to Cory by my relatives. I don't want to do it at all...selfish for myself I think. I enjoy this too much spending the close time with him and all. His dad would be the only one I'd do it for but he has said he understands my position and is happy with doing all the other parenting situations. What are the reasons (other than going out to work) that you pump? Do you do it only if you are leaving little ones with relatives for dr. visits and such or do you do it regularly? Thanks for any input. - Proud mommy to 7 week old Cory ------------------------------------------------------------------------ We are proud as punch of our new web site! http://www.onelist.com Onelist: The leading provider of free email community services ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Breastfeeding is Best!! http://www.mariaann.com/breastfeeding.htm If you like this list also check out http://www.onelist.com/subscribe.cgi/weanedbuddies
Guest guest
The only times that I pump is if I am going to go somewhere with out my daughter. And if I am feeling very full and she is not interested in eating. If we are out somewhere together and she gets hungry I just wip it on out. Sometimes I get looks from people, but I am a brat and don't care. If they don't approve they don't have to watch. My daughter is much happier with eating for the breast. She will take a bottle but only because she is really hungry. My mother breastfeed me for 3 years. Any place Any time Any where. You decided what YOU feel comfortable with and stick to it. Sometimes relatives need to be put in there place.(this is your child) My bestfriend had to deal with this also. With her husbands grandmother. Be strong and stick to your guns. Also maybe if your husband spoke to them it might help. ~shera ---Christi Redeker wrote: > > > > , > > I had to pump due to mastitis. Also it is nice because Pat can feed him at > night while I pump. Guest guest
Kathy, Since it will be for a limited time I would suggest her renting an electric double pump. It is big and not very convenient but it works so well. It pumps both breasts at once. If you cannot find where to rent one, call a local hospital and ask the nurses in the Neonatal ICU they will know where to rent one. I just think with an adjustable double pump she could get more and not have to go through the frustration of a hand or battery pump. The only time I have ever been able to pump more than 2 oz at a time was with the electric double pump. What sort of heart defect does the baby have, if you don't mind my asking? I wish your friend and her family all the best. Wendi Pumping I know this just went around a few weeks ago, so I'm really sorry for asking again. My friend who's baby has a congenital heart defect (I sent a prayer request for her several weeks ago) needs information on breast pumps. This is her third child (all have been exclusively breastfed, the first for two years and the second for four years), but she's never tried to pump before. When her daughter undergoes surgery to repair her heart she will have to pump her milk to feed to her. The doctors say that there will be a two week period when they will have to know exactly how much she's getting, thus the necessity for the pump. They're hoping to put the surgery off until the little one is six months old, but they may not be able to. Any information that anyone has on this would be appreciated...what kind, what brand, cost, tips on pumping and storing milk, how to get a baby to take a bottle of milk and such.
