making yogurt from coconuts

Hi again. I left the SCD fold for a while to try other things,

including the Body Ecology Diet. It was a mistake, and now we're

back. One thing we learned about on the BED, though, was a kind of

yogurt made from the pureed meat of young green coconuts. As they

make it on the BED, it would not be legal. It is not cooked to the

right temp or fermented long enough, and it contains various strains

of beneficial yeast, which would not be legal. (One of my sons broke

out in a rash every time he ate it.) But I was wondering--if I made

it according to the SCD protocol, using a legal yogurt starter and

following all the other steps, would that work? My sons do not

tolerate dairy of any kind, even in the smallest amounts, but I

really want them to have the benefit of a probiotic food like

yogurt. What do you think?

Thanks,

PS: Does Elaine ever answer questions any more?

I am seeing some feedback on regression among some who are combining SCD with

BED, elsewhere.

Pecanbread finds nut yogurt a better alternative.

Here is what Elaine Gottschall warns:

I understand this young green coconut thing is not at all

recommended. Don't ask me why.

Nut yoghurt is a better and 100% legal alternative. Got one batch

fermenting away right now, ready-to-eat in the morning. Mail me for a

detailed instruction sheet.

Not only is it not recommended, Elaine feels it's downright dangerous!
