Guest guest
If you have frequent asthma you can ask your doctor about Advair. It is expensive though. I have also been on Singular for several years ( I think they finally got past off label use for asthma) As well as carry an inhaler. I had bad asthma when I was l3. We had a really wet and moldy summer that year. After that I have been on anihistimines every year for allergies . For most of my adult life have only had to use my inhaler 2-8 times a year. Though in cold weather I sometimes use it before exercise to prevent exercise induced asthma. Do this if I have a cold or have been feeling like my allergies are bothering me a lot. Something to keep in mind not all asthmatics wheeze. Some get a bit of a coughing spell that attacks for a while after exposure to irritants , smoke, airborne perfumes and air fresheners, exercise, coming in from out doors when it is cold. Coming in from outdoors toward evening during peak pollen season. At bedtime Now another interesting thing that isn't asthma but can feel like it. About 3 years ago I thought my asthma was getting out of control. I was using my inhaler every day and sometimes 2 times a day. This was after a two-three year period where I didn't need the inhaler at all(when this started up my inhaler was over two years out of date That dec I had a surgery and my ekg before surgery indicated that a heart attack couldn't be ruled out. One of the things I did was go see my mother in laws cardiologist. It wasn't my heart being blocked (several months later found out about the bartters kidney problem and that low levels of magnesium and potassium was causing the weird ekg) When doctor came in to tell me my stress test results she commented about being able to hear me breath from across the room. And also puzzled that I passed her stress test with a level six when most of her heart patients couldn't get past level 2 or 3. And that we had to finally stop the test only because of my asthma starting to flair up. During the conversation on my ekg I brought up that we had found a leak in the exhaust system in my van at work, right under the drivers seat and that my pcp didn't run a test to see if I had a problem because of it. The cardilogist said that the carbon monoxide poisoning could have cause the big flair up of asthma symptoms. She put me on advair for a while and it really cleared up the bronchchial tubes. I don't use it anymore. It was too expensive even using only once a day instead of twice a day . And for me anything like that can give me oral thrush (yeast) infection even following the directions of washing out the mouth after use with water. I am back now to taking my singular pill every day not needing my inhaler at all. I also take a second antihistime and during really bad allergy season take 12 hour sudafed and sometimes benadryl on top of the others.
