Guest guest
Hi: We contract therapy services to home health agencies. Many of the agencies are now calculating their therapy reimbursement based on the 6,14,20 rule that began last year. Seems like each has their own interpretation and guidelines they'd like us to follow. I have information from Eli Rehab Report and we've searched government websites, Medlearn and have some info, but we still do not feel we have what we need to understand it all. Anyone have information they can share? Thank you, Lott, MN, FNP
Guest guest
Hi , The whole Medicare and Home Health Agency Services are a bit much and the answer is YES the agencies all have their own manner of interpreting the reimbursement tables. I can tell you that going to courses offered through Home Health Agency specific groups is the best. Your state should have such an organization(s) that offer educational type of events. In California we have a Home Health Organization but also a group called CAHSAH that is based out of Sacramento and I have gone to their Home Health Manager's Seminar (3-Days) and let me tell you, that I can now debate more effectively with the agencies. I can quote the Conditions of Participation (CoPs), specify certain tag numbers as well as to explain to them things like HHRGs and so forth. I am a therapist and our company does home health visits and I urge you to find such a group in your state. Simply, ask the agencies that you work with, where they go for training. I will be going to an Administrator's Workshop later this year in Las Vegas through CAHSAH. Good Luck! Ralph Santos, MBA, OTR/L Center for Physical Therapy Services 1650 E.
