Guest guest
Geez - that ingredient list looked kind of dangerous, even for the post-ops. I have a low-fat recipe that I created that might be a lot more " pouch-friendly " and it tastes good enough for the rest of the family. (I won my family chile cook-off with this recipe) It is SOOOOOO easy! In large pot combine (3) cans each of: White Kidney Beans, Navy Beans, Garbanzo Beans, Great Northern Beans (Beans should NOT be drained, dump the whole can in!) In small pot, boil 2 - 3 large chicken breasts until well cooked. Add shredded chicken to pot with beans. (I shred the chicken by manually pulling it apart. If you shred the chicken, it goes farther and you seem to feel like you ate a lot more than you actually did!) Add 1 - 2 cans chicken broth (depending on your taste). Season with Salt, pepper, paprika, chile powder, touch of garlic powder, diced onions. (Season to personal taste) Bring everything in pot to boil, stirring occasionally, reduce to simmer. Serve with fat free sour cream, reduced fat mozarella, and scallions. It is really popular around our house(especially with freash bread.....MMMMMM! Hope someone enjoys it! Tara Lynn PS - I don't know exactly how many this feeds, but My hubby and I usually get sick of it after eating on it for a week! I would guess 10 - 12 w/possible left-overs. Pretty good considering it only costs $8 - $10 to make! --- Nan Coulter wrote: > > > White Chili-Seekers -- I found this recipe through > www.askjeeves.com. > I found several recipes there for white chili, so > feel free to browse > if this one doesn't strike your fancy. > > Even though I'm four months post-op, I don't have > the " guts " to try > beans, so for those of you who are gastrically > fearless -- bon > appetite! Guest guest
Merritt, Had my first glass of sweetened tea yesterday and personally had no problem with it. Don't have the courage to try drinking a coke, although it sounds really good!
Guest guest
I have found that the only " soda " or " pop " that I can drink is orange flavored. It has no caffiene and very little if any carbonation. As for the juice, my tastes have changed since my surgery and the only ones I prefer are Ruby Red or Orange. Sweet beverages I could not tolerate from day one post-op when I tried to drink some ensure. Still would rather have my 32 ounces glass of ice water over anything. Guest guest
I second the motion on water as the drink of choice. Nothing else tastes as good. Got on the scale this morning and am down 41 lbs since surgery. That's 41 lbs in 43 days! Not bad. 3 more and I can move the BIGGGGG weight down a notch. Love those milestones. Guest guest
, And here I thought I was the only one who prefered ice water! I can't get enough of it! Although I've been reminded many times that I need the juices most right now since I still can't eat. Only 3 weeks to go before I can have real food! Mashed potatoes here I come! Slowly of course. Guest guest
Maybe Dr. R should include Beano or Gas-X as part of his post-operative treatment plan. Then we could all have beany chili to our hearts content....(I wonder if it works for Baked Beans...Southern style....you know, a few beans and a lot of molasses!!!!! Just kidding Dr. R.
