Guest guest
It is a sad fact of life that typical children and adults are murdered in our world. The portrayal of a tragic killing of an autistic child is in accord with the principles of inclusion, rather than exclusion from the typical of activities of life both wonderful and horrible. I'd would like to thank the knee jerk reactionaries for alerting me to this film. I will be the first in line to see it. Guest guest
Maybe I am different, but I have never jumped on anyones band wagon just becauce they say it's for the good of their belief. I am as opinionated as they come, so I will be the judge to see the movie or not. I also have a 6 yr. old with autism and and plan to include my child in all life lessons. I envy those with NT kids, I hate teasing and prejudice, and neither do I teach this to my children. I realize that it may happen though and know that there will be pain and anger. As far as teaching all of those young impressionable kids out there to go out and kill someone out of pity, I doubt that this movie will be any more of a problem to blame than their peers, the TV they watch, video's, the internet, or the lack of parental involvement. Who is to say it's not genetic or a combination of all factors. Maybe we should see the movie, then be the judges. If I had listened to some adults opinion of Harry Potter and black magic, then I would have missed reading some wonderful books. Just my opinion. Guest guest
I've heard about this film a while ago. Is it coming out soon? I believe I read somewhere that Spacey has something to do with it-I don't know if it as a producer or in some other capacity. kerbob1 <robertbloch@...> wrote:Has anyone heard about a new movie entitled " The United States of Leland " . I figure this is just a subtle attempt to somehow condition society. I'd like to know who backed this picture. Guest guest
I have heard of the movie, awhile ago, and started a petition to boyvott the movie when it is released for the same reasons you had mentioned in your post....Its a dangerous movie with the capability of promoting misinformation, prejudice, and a potential for violence against autistic children and adults..... I was recently interviewd by a reporter for the LA Times that happened across the petition while doign research on one of the actors for the movie......I think it went pretty well...... The petition which is entitled " Boycott the Motion Picture " The United States of Leland " " can be found at: http://www.gopetition.com/info.php?petid=1390 Ellen

I can't remember the name. I also heard that was helping with funding. (I don't remember where I heard it, but I do remember thinking that it was odd.) I wrote an e-mail to the production company about the movie. It is just wrong! Jana M. <><

Guest guest
http://www.paramountclassics.com/leland/main.html This website says it opens APRIL 2!!! That's THIS FRIDAY. I am very hesitant on judging this film prior to seeing it. Supposedly it will show the ramifications of his crime, including how it affects the family. Has anyone seen an advanced showing to know how it portrays autism? Debi
Guest guest
All reports I am receiving indicate that it doesn't do the things you claim. It's about the knife-murder of an autistic child. And the knife-murder is depicted as a mercy-killing. [ ] Re: " The United States of Leland " http://www.paramountclassics.com/leland/main.html This website says it opens APRIL 2!!! Guest guest
It is my understanding that the film was to be made public a year or so ago, but protesters got it stopped. I may be wrong though.
