May I ask which enzyme you use? How much and what brand?

Thank you.

We do both. My kid recovered from his quirks with diet, and I thought he was all better but we had occassional food accidents with traces.. My son also went allergic to corn and egg after going GFCF. When we went on the enzymes, it changed his life again. No peaks and valleys from food traces. As his teacher put it, he was just another cog in the wheel at school. We will not experiment with food for a few more years. We started when he was 5 and he is now 8. Our son doesn't mind the rest of us eating food he doesn't. He knows some foods make him feel sick.> > >>> > >> > > >>>I am new to the diet..well three months in and I just found out how > >important > >> > >>>enyme's can be. Our son's PT therapist is gluten intolerant and warned me against enzymes so I

have always been hesitant. She said when she was first diagnosed she was told

enzymes were " safe " so she took them whenever she felt like she had ingested

gluten. After several months she got really sick, to the point of being

hospitalized. They ran test after test on her, unable to determine what was

wrong. She happened to mention she was gluten intolerant and a nurse asked if

she was taking enzymes. Apparently the enzymes just cause your body not to have

symptoms but it still negatively affects your body. She was hospitalized to

detox her liver from the buildup of toxins. Just passing along. I think I would

rather see the symptoms and know there is a problem than blindly think

everything is great. Just my 2 cents.

I'm in a situation with my son and I don't know what to do. We too had him

gfcfsf from age 3 to 4. When I took him off the diet, he seemed much healthier

and happier, no regression. But now, he's 6 and has terrible GI symptoms,

diarrhea (never a consistent bm) and terrible gas and bloating, and strange

sounds from his stomach. I put him back on the diet this summer, but now I

think he's intolerant to rice and corn too. I'm at a complete loss as to what

to do. Do I take him off the diet again, or try SCD? I'm so worried for him.

Right now, he currently takes:

Enzyme complete with DPP-IV forte

Cod liver oil

Milk Thistle

Amphotericin B

Idebenone

ASD multi vitamin

Fibersure

Miralax, when needed

VSL #3 (I know it's not casein free, but cannot find a probiotic that helps him

yet)

zinc

trans DMSA on weekends

He underwent testing for Hirshprungs Disease, only showed " fairly genereous "

large colon. He's 6 and weighs 36lbs.

Something else going on here because Dr. Houston from Houston Nutraceuticals talks about the safety of taking enzymes instead of doing diet for some kids. In fact he is doing a study of sorts....check out his website....so wonder what else was happening here. Digestive enzymes just help digest foods, if you don't eat the food they are broken down and pass out of the body.nancy j.

My son is GF/CF and we use Houston enzymes a few times a week for infractions like pizza on the weekend and ice cream in school. Lately we've been using them a lot and I have not noticed any kind of regression. They have been great for us. (using them for a year now) I feel like we (and he) can be more a part of society. Not to mention the convenience for me. Not ready to take him off the diet just yet, but getting closer. Hope this helps!

I'm not one to keep adding more supps, but is there anything in your list that

targets yeast? It seems that yeast can really cause the bloating and gut

problems. Just a thought.

We are using Digest Spectrum by Enzymedica. I did not seem to notice much either but kept with it.Recently on these groups mentioned trying Kyolic Candida Cleanse. I read the bottle and it is enzymes plus garlic plus ginger. Since we were stabilized on our enzymes, I just added ginger and garlic (capsules). Everything is cool here now... I didn't really pay attention to if we had die off, wasnt sure what to expect.

Today I am sitting watching my daughter watch tv and she is not rocking back and forth. I have no idea if that is a yeast-y trait or what... also, a couple weeks after starting the Kyolic, the teacher said she'd been a lot more pleasant... so, I don't know if that is what has helped or what. I haven't been paying attention so I don't know how long the rocking has been gone! LOL

Not sure how long I should keep it up... if indefinitely is ok, or what? But anyway, just thought I'd share positive experience with these things.

I am new to the diet..well three months in and I just found out how important enyme's can be. My dan put my daughter on ZenPep which she takes twice a day, last time I ordered supplies I asked if they carried a enzyme that I could give to my other children and I got a product called Zyme Prime made by Houston. Has anyone used this product? I have been given it to my other daughter and I have seen a difference in her behavior. Also did anyone stop doing the diet and just use Enzyme's? how many a day are safe to give? do they help control yeast?

Thanks for your help,

Something else going on here because Dr. Houston from Houston Nutraceuticals talks about the safety of taking enzymes instead of doing diet for some kids. In fact he is doing a study of sorts....check out his website....so wonder what else was happening here. Digestive enzymes just help digest foods, if you don't eat the food they are broken down and pass out of the body.nancy j.Help TACA win $50,000. Our son's PT therapist is gluten intolerant and warned me against enzymes so I have always been hesitant. She said when she was first diagnosed she was told enzymes were "safe" so she took them whenever she felt like she had ingested gluten. After several months she got really sick, to the point of being hospitalized. They ran test after test on her, unable to determine what was wrong. She happened to mention she was gluten intolerant and a nurse asked if she was taking enzymes. Apparently the enzymes just cause your body not to have symptoms but it still negatively affects your body. She was hospitalized to detox her liver from the buildup of toxins. Just passing along. I think I would rather see the symptoms and know there is a problem than blindly think everything is great. Just my 2 cents.

no you remove the things he is intollerent to and start rotating things, I would recommend going and doing an IGG test to find out what all you need to remove. SCD can still grow yeast with the fruits they still allow so that won't solve the problem with yeast completely and it will make intollerences worse

I'm in a situation with my son and I don't know what to do. We too had him gfcfsf from age 3 to 4. When I took him off the diet, he seemed much healthier and happier, no regression. But now, he's 6 and has terrible GI symptoms, diarrhea (never a consistent bm) and terrible gas and bloating, and strange sounds from his stomach. I put him back on the diet this summer, but now I think he's intolerant to rice and corn too. I'm at a complete loss as to what to do. Do I take him off the diet again, or try SCD? I'm so worried for him. Right now, he currently takes:Enzyme complete with DPP-IV forteCod liver oilMilk ThistleAmphotericin BIdebenoneASD multi vitaminFibersureMiralax, when neededVSL #3 (I know it's not casein free, but cannot find a probiotic that helps him yet)zinctrans DMSA on weekendsHe underwent testing for Hirshprungs Disease, only showed "fairly genereous" large colon. He's 6 and weighs 36lbs.Nadia> > > >>> > > >> > > > >>>I am new to the diet..well three months in and I just found out how > > >important > > >> > > >>>enyme's can be. I'm confused, so it's possible not to do the GFCFSF diet of course as long as your child has no food allergies and use enzyme to help break down the gluten/casein? I don't want to sound like I am trying to take the easy way out but I have got my whole family on the diet and as most of you know it's hard, we have done it faithfully for 4 months, I know doesn't seem like along time but it sure feels like it. Did anyone on the board start out on the diet and then start using Enzyme's? I am not going to change anything until I talk to my Dan in December but wanted some advise.

Thanks,

I will look into trienzyme too. We've been doing the diet for over a year. How long do you have to take the enzymes to see if they are helping? I used Enzymedica Digest Gold and I didn't see a huge difference, but I may not have given it long enough. Thanks,Martha> >>> >>Â > >>>I am new to the diet..well three months in and I just found out how important > >>>enyme's can be. There is Kyolic " Candida Cleanse " that is a combo of enzymes, garlic and ginger. I am not sure it is working but my daughter's rocking has mostly disappeared and toe walking has decreased and gut is FLAT. I have not changed her eating, but her carb-craving has decreased.

So, with those pieces of evidence, I would say it is working LOL but YMMV! ;-)

I'm not one to keep adding more supps, but is there anything in your list that targets yeast? It seems that yeast can really cause the bloating and gut problems. Just a thought.
