I am new to the diet..well three months in and I just found out how important enyme's can be. My dan put my daughter on ZenPep which she takes twice a day,last time I ordered supplies I asked if they carried a enzyme that I could give to my other children and I got a product called Zyme Prime made by Houston. Has anyone used this product? I have been given it to my other daughter and I have seen a difference in her behavior. Also did anyone stop doing the diet and just use Enzyme's? how many a day are safe to give? do they help control yeast?

we stopped the diet at the 3 month mark, because it just didn't give us enough positives to keep up with the huge hassel it was. We use enzymes with every meal and snack and we are seeing more improvements than ever. Just yeasterday he counted to ten in the kitchen! I have a non-verbal child, he can barely mutter anything we ask him to say, even though it wasn't totally clear he counted to ten! I didn't even know he knew that...Enzymes are way easier and can actally heal gut tissue you can get more info from the book from DeFelice's book Enzymes and Autism.

just a side not, you can get both of thosIN trienzyme and it is cheeper and you get the no phenol in it as well which will eat up at yeast, you can also buy in bulk and they take something like 20% off, I think you have to buy 6 bottels (but when you think about it, it's like buy 5 get one free)

I am looking for a way to get off the diet but if it's the only why then I guess she has to stay on it. I will see my dan next month and I am going to bring this up. Thanks for the info and I am glad to here your son is doing good.

I will look into trienzyme too. We've been doing the diet for over a year.

How long do you have to take the enzymes to see if they are helping? I used

Enzymedica Digest Gold and I didn't see a huge difference, but I may not have

given it long enough.

I'm confused, so it's possible not to do the GFCFSF diet of course as long as your child has no food allergies and use enzyme to help break down the gluten/casein? I don't want to sound like I am trying to take the easy way out but I have got my whole family on the diet and as most of you know it's hard, we have done it faithfully for 4 months, I know doesn't seem like along time but it sure feels like it. Did anyone on the board start out on the diet and then start using Enzyme's? I am not going to change anything until I talk to my Dan in December but wanted some advise.

We do both. My kid recovered from his quirks with diet, and I thought he was

all better but we had occassional food accidents with traces.. My son also went

allergic to corn and egg after going GFCF. When we went on the enzymes, it

changed his life again. No peaks and valleys from food traces. As his teacher

put it, he was just another cog in the wheel at school. We will not experiment

with food for a few more years. We started when he was 5 and he is now 8. Our

son doesn't mind the rest of us eating food he doesn't. He knows some foods

make him feel sick.

My dd is 27 months old and is aware of what other's are eating and if she wants it she will try to take some and if she doesn't get any she will cry. It's hard as a parent to tell her no while we eat so as a family we do the diet. Sometimes my daughter or husband will eat something in another room but as dinner meal it's the same for everyone. Also since starting the diet she isn't eating as good as she used to, that worries me. I found that some parents just use enzyme's and that by helping their child break down the casein and gluten then they bypass the effects it other wise might have on their child. I am so confused I want to do the right thing but it's hard sometimes to know what it is. Thank you for your reply.
