That is awesome. Also, I find myself using myself using my toaster oven more and more and the microwave less and less. Not purposely, probably just because of the dietary changes and almost everything tastes better that way anyhow. I don't even own a regular toaster anymore. The only thing that sucks is I won't use the aluminum pan that came with the toaster oven, so I've been using a round pyrex pie plate -which is tough when I want to spread things out a little. But I make it work. Also, I use my juicer every single day - which has prob. made me cut back on prepared foods. I love it. So far, I've managed to sneak in carrots and coromega in the fruit juice undetected! Ha!

Bob's Red mill sells alumium free baking materials

I've stopped using aluminum and try to stick mostly with Pyrex. It's the food that concerns me. My youngest is completely addicted to microwave pancakes - it is his absolute most favorite. After reading an article last night (which was actually about Alzeimers and the list of symtoms which happen to match my older sons closer than anything else I've yet to come across ) - one article lead to another and another and another...you know how that goes....anyhow I was shocked to realize when you see "aluminum" in the ingredients, it's quite literally aluminum. Experts seem to go back and forth about whether or not consuming it is dangerous as some believe the body naturally flushes it out. While anybody who has recovered themselves from Alzeimers (by eliminating aluminum out of their cookware, health and beauty aids and food) will say otherwise. I tend to believe these people who have

recovered themselves.. .for obvious reason. : )

I got rid of most of the sippy cups (tried ALL but there were a couple favorites) and got new BPA-free ones. Freecycled the rest. YAY Just feel a little bad giving away stuff I feel is bad for people. :-( Maybe should have been in the recycle bin.

Saw the posts and thought I'd chime in. Just a few months ago I was planning to

buy a boatload of stoneware from Pampered Chef, but they told my friend (who's

one of their consultants) that they can't guarantee it's lead-free. So I've

been using 18/0 stainless steel baking sheets for cookies and baking, and they

work pretty well (you just have to do the magnet test to make sure the magnet

sticks to them well to make sure they're 18/0...if the magnet doesn't stick,

they're probably 18/10 and have other metals like nickel).

>

> , people will start commenting how smart I am after they stop looking at

me like I've gone completely off the deep end????   (my hubby included)

lol.           I've started saving my glass jars and using those for

storage.  , I was actually wondering about pampered chef - I used to own

the pizza stone (and loved it)- I need something other than a giant pyrex

casserole dish to bake cookies on.  If those stones contain no lead, that would

be perfect!  yum! yum!

toni-i was under the impression that bpa in bottles was only bad if they were placed in a microwave for heating? i assumed any bottles and cups to be safe as long as nothing was heated in them. this is not right? i have my very first grandchild on the way in just a few short weeks and want to make sure we have it straight.

I don't think this is correct. I think the bad stuff can leach from BPA plastic regardless. They don't seem to sell other bottles now. Must be REALLY BAD if they were pulled, ya know? A couple years ago, Babies R Us even had a trade in program.

My kids are way beyond bottles. My girls are 20 and 21. And my boys are 4 and 7. I have a grandchild on the way who will be breast fed but my daughter's hoping the baby will use bottles also. We were checking out the glass bottles with the rubber skins so that's an easy fix. (My daughter's petrified someone might drop a heavy glass bottle on the baby's head ...in this house, it would happen lol) I couldn't even consider glass for the rest of us to drink from - we're so clumsy we'd have to carpet the kitchen floors lol

Well that is what I am saying, there are BPA-free plastic drinking cups out there. I think new plastic cups are probably BPA-free... all the bottles and sippies are. I went to Sports Authority and bought plastic sports bottles for everyone, all BPA-free. :-)

Well that is what I am saying, there are BPA-free plastic drinking cups out there. I think new plastic cups are probably BPA-free... all the bottles and sippies are. I went to Sports Authority and bought plastic sports bottles for everyone, all BPA-free. :-)

I use all stainless steel and it really isn't that bad. Just remember to heat

your pan before you add your butter/oil/whatever.

at me like I've gone completely off the deep end????   (my hubby included)

lol.           I've started saving my glass

jars and using those for storage.  , I was actually wondering about

pampered chef - I used to own the pizza stone (and loved it)- I need something

other than a giant pyrex casserole dish to bake cookies on.  If those stones

contain no lead, that would be perfect!  yum! yum!
