Guest guest
HI Ruth, I mostly read information on online diabetes forums and websites. www.diabetesnet.com has some fantastic information on insulin pumps (I just noticed when checking that I had the right URL that they revised their site, so hopefully the new version is still accessible), and so does www.childrenwithdiabetes.com in their section under " insulin pumps. " I corresponded in-depth with several people online about their experiences using pumps, especially the brand of pump I was most interested in. I also had a look at all the pumps available before choosing one, something I plan on repeating when it's time to get a new pump in about a year, even though we currently only have two models to choose from in Canada. There are also several articles written about using insulin pumps with a visual impairment, I'll see if I have them in my bookmarks. Also, you may be interested in a blog I just started at www.aninvisibleminority.wordpress.com about accessible diabetes technologies (mostly about how companies can make mainstream technologies accessible). There's only one post up there for now, but I plan on adding more posts, including some about using an insulin pump as a visually impaired or blind person.
