Guest guest
Hi all - I have three children, two of whom I'm considering putting on the SCD. I've been trying recipes for the last couple of weeks, hoping to just phase out the GFCF and move into SCD. I guess what I need to know is, would it be more beneficial to do the intro diet, or is it possible to just switch foods? Both children have had intestinal problems in the past, but no obvious symptoms now. My main wish is to help them both with language and sensory issues (one has major hurdles, the other has minor ones, and both are doing pretty well - in fact I hesitate to even risk rocking the boat by throwing the whole diet thing into review again....) It seems by the reading I've done here that the dairy yoghurt option is just personal choice - do the users of yoghurt go on to include the cheeses at all? I'm sure I'll pick up more answers just by reading along - thanks to those down the track (on the diet) for sharing what you have learned. Cheers for now - Kate in Australia mum to Tim (10) with DS and autism, Asher (8) who moves at the speed of lightning, and Miranda (3) who has the same answer for everything - " NO! Guest guest
Hi and welcome. Just my two cents, we did not do the full intro diet, and my son is doing very well on the diet now, over 3 weeks into it. He didn't have severe gastro issues when we started either, just minor, not severe diarrhea or anything. I think just starting with soft things is beneficial though, like the chicken cupcakes, pearsauce, applesauce, etc. Chances are, they will make a smooth transition. Smoother than you think, anyway. We do the diet dairy free as well and have started the probiotics. He is doing very good, just almost like a 360 degree turn in my eyes, and only just begun the diet basically. I pray you will give it a try for a few weeks and see the difference this healthy way of eating can truly make...
