BUT, there are also over 40 years of German studies of its safety and efficacy. You may need to do some digging to find the studies. What I can tell you is that after some VERY careful consideration and alot of research, I did take it for a while when Kylie was around 6 months old. It helped me tremendously, and Kylie did not seem to suffer any ill effects from it. One " side effect " I also had was an incredible weight loss (St. s Wort affects your serotonin level and can suppress appetite in some users). I was on my way down to a size 6, it honestly scared me. So I stopped taking it .... but I haven't really needed to take it since them (I quit my old stressful job, thank God). My feeling was that it was much less harmful than Prozac or other anti-depressants on the market, so I opted for the herbal remedy. Thankfully it seemed to work well for us. Just my experience! & Kylie, still nursing at 20 months!

Guest guest
Amy, Sounds like something you are eating or taking is causing it. Try to eliminate some things one at a time and see if it goes away, then you have your culprit. I don't like A & D and don't recommend it. Weleda calendula cream is excellent for rashes. Available in lots of baby stores or natural food stores. Wendi St s Hi all I have a quick question about st. johns? Guest guest
I had dry chapped hands (on the back knuckles) I bought some calendula ointment...made by: Boiron. It took the pain right out & the redness. They healed up very fast! I use it on anything that needs help healing. I bought it at Fred Meyer's Health department...it's in a tube. Guest guest
Kriss, I too just heard that St. 's Wort can cause liver dysfunction. Wendi Re: St s As I just lost most of my mail and I am sure this has been answered, I will give you my take on this plus three other takes, two from Masters of Herbs. St. s wart is used now for a Anit Depression/Anxiety. It is to act like Prozac. While it also can be used for other things, this is the primary reason it is used. It can be passed into your breastmilk, and it is not really very good for you. It can act as almost an acidic substance for your liver and kidneys. I would NEVER ever take this for longer then 2 months and NEVER but for a 1/3 of the reccomended daily dose. I know this is vague, but if you want the other uses for it, I will be glad to send them. I would take the bottle back, but that is my opinion only.
