Hey Everybody!!! :)

My name is Markham,

I'm 23 (and a half) years old 20,

My e-mail address is CmacyM@...,

I live in Chesapeake, Virginia,

But I'm originally from Chicago, Illinois (born and raised),

I'm POST-OP two and a half weeks.

I had surgery on March 25, 1999. I weighed 292 lbs that day.

As of April 9, 1999 I weighed 264. That's 28 lbs less!

Praise God!

MISC. Info:

I work full-time for TWA and I travel often (tomorrow as a matter of fact!).

I used to be a flight major (I was going to be a pilot), but I changed to an

Animal Science major last year (now I'm going to be a veterinarian). I

don't have any kids, but hope to one day. I'm hoping for a husband first.

I do have a cat if that counts though! Her name is Runway. She's obese too!

Gastonia, NC

post-op, Surgery 3-31-99

4-10-99 down 18 lbs

I had a 5 month battle with my insurance co. (Humana PPO)

I am divorced, currently living with my fiancee. I have no children, but

together we have 2 dogs, 3 cats and a 125 gal Salt Water Aquarium.

I was a Registered Respiratory Therapist for 20 years.

I am now the President of a small Corporation that my brother and I own. We

have offices in Charlotte and Hickory. We do Insurance Damage Appraisals and

will be going to a national convention in Acapulco in September. I am

SOOOOOOOOO happy that I had my surgery now. I hope to be as good as possible

in Acapulco!

Great idea, Tara Lynn!

I'm Lydia Modert. My e-mail is ldmodert@....

I'm 27 yrs old, 5'9 " , 330 lbs, BMI of 50, and a pre-op (hopefully May!).

I'm married (for 7 yrs) to a super, hard-working, young--Newman-ish man

who is nervous but very supportive about my surgery.

We have a hilariously funny 14 month daughter named .

We live in Cary, NC (about 20 minutes southeast of Durham). We spent most

of our lives in the Columbia, SC, area, until moving here for his job last

May. We love it here!

Our insurance is Humana, NC/SC, and hopefully, paved the way for me to

not have the problems she did getting approved. The language in the book

does provide for treatment for morbid obesity, so....let's hope....but we

haven't heard anything yet.

I'm at SAHM who also takes care of a couple of 6/7 year olds part-time.

I've been overweight my whole life, and hope to be a whole lot thinner this

time next year!

Durham, NC--5 minutes from Dr. Rutledge

Post-op March 15, 1999

Married with 2 kids, 8 & 9

Went to school in Memphis, TN and Knoxville, TN

Insurance with AETNA--No problem--was I surprised!

Originally came to Durham to be on the Rice Diet. Lost 150 lbs. Met and

married my husband, also on the Rice Diet. Gained it all back (and more) in

about 5 years.

Now I think I've found a permanent solution.

My name is Janie Whitford and I'm post-op. I had the surgery 25 Mar 99 and

have had no complications. I was one of the lucky ones. Ask any questions

and I'll try to answer. I weighed 10 Apr 99 and am down 29 pounds. IT

FEELS GREAT. I'm 48, married with one daughter age 21. I had no problems

with my insurance. I have Mail-Handlers. I went to school in a little town

called ville, Missouri which is 10 miles from Sedalia where I waited

for years for Clint Eastwood to show up on a round-up cause he was on the

series Rawhide and the cattle drives were all headed for Sedalia. Funny

thing, he never showed. Go figure. One thing we all agree on is Dr. R. is

the greatest. I'm feeling really great. I've had hunger pains but drink

something and they go away.

Hi I'm Janet Sferrella and I don't live far from you Tara. I live in a

little town called Bel Alton, land. About 13 miles north of the Harry

Nice Bridge on the land side if that helps you any. I'm married and have

four children. I was recently verbally denied my pre-authorization request.

BlueCross BlueShield of MD keeps promising me a denial letter but neither me

nor Dr. Rutledge have received a darn thing. They verbally denied me on

March 23 and again today, April 12. I have everything else ready. I'm a PC

Applications Specialist with the MIS Department of County Government

(aka-computer software/hardware help desk for network users). I'm 5'5 " and

weigh 297lbs. My BMI is 49. I thoroughly enjoy this group and the support

offered. I look forward to learning more about everyone hear. Thanks for

doing the Roll Call.

A friend in land,

Janet

(Two months into the fight with BCBS of MD).

(psgreer@...) Pam Greer here. E-mail comes up as Paam

OK with me to keep it that way (at least I know which Pam we're

talking about).....unless of course Paam's not here one day and one of

her alter egos is........Never mind, I digress, back to roll call

stats:

Age: 45 until 8-10-99. Married (happily, me anyway...I'm afraid to

ask him....) oh well, he can't afford to divorce me, no way he could

pay all that child support for 2 teenagers, , 17 & Chelsey, 16

Hi

My name is Kathy . I am 32 yrs old, married with 3 children

(ages 3, 5, & 8) I weigh 302 lbs and am 5' 6 " . I am fighting with

Kaiser Permente in NC for approval. I have one denial and then I won

the appeal but am still having a hard time getting the paperwork

through.

I am a stay home mom now, but taught high school for 5 years after

graduating with a B>S> in Biology and a M>A> in Speech from West

Virginia University. ( GO MOUNTANEERS!!!!!!!)

I have been overweight my entire life . I was put on my first

prescription diet pill at the age of 13 . It has been a losing battle

every since.

I LOVE this list, and I am so please that it has taken off so well. I

would be happy to help anyone here in anyway I can. I live in SC just

south of Charlotte, NC. Good luck to all of you
