Guest guest
The thing I am having the most difficulty with taking care of is remembering that first and foremost she is a 5 month old baby. Sometimes she cries and I spend 20 minutes checking her trach and g- button and making sure all the wires and tubes are comfortable and then I suddenly think maybe I should check her diaper and lo and behold it is dirty. I change the diaper and she stops crying and starts blowing raspberries ;-) Rochel
Guest guest
Oh- Rochel- You have brought something back for me....when was a baby and he would cry, we would all be so concerned about his airway - we would suction and suction - and we really couldn't stop until he stopped crying. So that is the comfort he received when he cried - suctioning. It breaks my heart whenever I think of it.... once I literally had folded his foot in half in his shoe - I think that was one time he cried for so long we had to figure it out ... that and the really raw bleeding bottoms from the constant antibiotics..... and that too all passed.... and now he's had his first " date " ! He asked a girl to the high school play, and she accepted, and he paid for her ticket ..... if neither of them develop any serious emotional attachments to a significant other I can see them going to the High School Prom together as comrades - they are in 9th grade now....... she is not in special ed - but coincidentally enough, her mother works in Special Ed in a neighboring school system and she volunteers at a Equestrian Therapy facility........ they met in P>E! =-) Happy endings...... take good care - Yuka The hardest thing about taking care of > The thing I am having the most difficulty with taking care of > is remembering that first and foremost she is a 5 month old baby. > > Sometimes she cries and I spend 20 minutes checking her trach and g- > button and making sure all the wires and tubes are comfortable and > then I suddenly think maybe I should check her diaper and lo and > behold it is dirty. Guest guest
Yuka - Just in case it can erase some of your guilt-- I've known many moms through my years in day care and preschool who have folded a kid's foot into a shoe without realizing it. Crazy -- but it happens more often that you'd think :-) I love the mental image of going on a date! Aubrie's got more marraige proposals than most girls her age so she's doing well so far...
