Hello again,

I am wondering if you could please help me by sharing with me what

type of testing you have done to learn about or monitor your children.

It seems that so many of you know so very much about their levels of

this or that or know that they should be taking this or that

supplement. I don't even know how to figure that out and was

wondering what tests you used to help determine.

Next week I have an appt with Ilana's (age 3) GI.

She has been on SCD for 7 months and although she has had a few brief

periods of no diarrhea, no real remission or improvement has occcured

yet. I know that the GI wants to scope her again and of course wants

to put her on meds to get her into remission. I am coming around to

accepting the idea of having her on meds for a while, but I want to

have a better picture of her health and why her body is not responding

to SCD and I want to push for any test that may be helpful to

understanding what is going on.

We have done GSL CDSA 2.0 and found out she has zero beneficial

bacteria, so I restarted yogurt, though have let off again because she

started to bleed. Inflamation was through the roof.

She was scoped 1 year ago and had what I guess what were the " routine "

tests.

I am of worried about her overall health such as nutrient levels, etc.

She has grown though and put on 5 pounds since we started SCD, so she

is absorbing something...it's just that we have never progressed out

of the " stage 1 foods " , so variety is very limited.

Thank you. If you would like to email me privately, my email is

I think you are right that the weight gain means she is absorbing

something. What kind of yogurt? Did you try dripping it? She may

do better with the nut yogurt. What else does she eat? For some

bleeding is the last symptom to disappear.

Sheila,

Have you ever read the book, " Children with Starving Brains " ? It's

by Jaquelyn McCandless and is a treatment guide. She includes diet,

supplements, testing, and chelation. It really is a great

reference. Do you have a DAN! dr.?

Gia,

Thanks for the info on the book..I will look into it. I am fortunate

that Ilana is not on the autism spectum. I am doing this diet because

she has ulcerative colitis. I have noticed (and have been impressed

by) the knowledge that the parents of autistic children have. I know

that DAN Drs are focused on Autism, but what type of Drs are they? do

they see other types of patients? Maybe they could be my answer to

finding out some more information, but am not really sure since I

don't know much about them.
