Guest guest
IGS indicates problems with the mucal linings in the body, the gut lining, nose pathways ect. it can be linked to IGE issues upper wise and yeast and bacteria in the gut and IGG allergies food wise that are irritating it and when addressed those numbers can calm. if you have not done an IGG food panel in a while or a comp stool tests I would recommend both to find out what is causing that number to be off, with the gut leaking it may be why he is having seizers as well. if gluten is what is putting the wholes it can also cause seizers and cause for lack of abosrotion of foods that can help take up seizer threshold like taurine. IVIG will not help with this as you have no IGG issues, this is IGA which is different antibodies/ somethign like LDN may help with the TH1 AND TH2 balence that is also off Interventions for HyperImmune Kids DS is hyperimmune (has an overactive immune system, not low but high) - he never falls sick. And I'd like to know from other parents what their best intervention so far has been.We ran the immune panel for him recently and all his IGG sub-classes came back within range, but his Immunoglobulin A came in high. He also tested positive to Anne Connolly, has high measles anti-bodies and showed seizures on a SPECT scan. I know that hyperimmunity is a sign of a viral kid and he has shown some response to anti-virals (I wouldn't say it's a wow, but it's been amongst the most effective interventions so far). What I'm trying to figure out is whether anyone has seen any benefits with IVIG with such a profile? I have read a lot of posts where kids with low immunity have responded positively to IVIG, but DS doesn't have low immunity (rather he has high immunity). Has anyone seen benefits with IVIG for a kid with hyperimmunity?
Guest guest
Thanks for your response. We did an IGG allergy panel last year and he showed problems mainly to gluten, caesin, soy and coconut. So we got off those. But we tried a really risky thing recently. After halloween trick-or-treat we weren't sure whether the diet was helping him and so we allowed him to have his candies and gave him some wheat too. But he started stimming and rolling his eyes and was much more lost within a week. I believe we didn't see the benefit of the diet 'coz it goes away from the body very gradually, but now we know that it helps. So we are going back on the diet. We have addressed his yeast issues with homeopathy (if it comes back with anti-viral treatment we'll do it again) and his stool test showed some clostridia. We did a round of Flagyl. But I wasn't sure whether IVIG was the right thing for him since his IGG sub-classes were within range and DAN said that IVIG does not contain IGA. So I was making sure before I ruled it out 'coz it is expensive. I saw one of your older posts where you've mentioned l-glutamine for low IGA, but he's not low, rather he's high. I had LDN or prednisone in my mind as the further lines of protocol (I'm also adding natural anti-virals one at a time as he's a viral kid - measles) - but I need to read up more on both LDN or prednisone and understand them better. But it sounds like these may have a better chance of success for DS rather than IVIG. Thanks once again for your response. Best regards, Arpita. > > IVIG will not help with this as you have no IGG issues, this is IGA which is different antibodies/ > > somethign like LDN may help with the TH1 AND TH2 balence that is also off > > Interventions for HyperImmune Kids > > > > DS is hyperimmune (has an overactive immune system, not low but high) - he never falls sick. Guest guest
Did you see much improvement with Flagyl?Re: food intolerance - I think the most commonly accepter theory I have seen so far is that they are not really allergic to the food but a dysfunctional immune system is causing the immune system to react to several food items & the most allergic are Bovine protein, Gluten & nuts etc. It can react to a lot of other things & just one test is not an indicator that a particular food is safe - maybe why a rotational diet works best.Interested in hearing others perspective on this. To: mb12 valtrex Sent: Sun, November 7, 2010 9:45:06 AMSubject: Re: Interventions for HyperImmune Kids Thanks for your response. Guest guest
no then IVIG would not be a treatment you would A. get covered, and B. meet the needs of what you were looking to fix. LDN may help if you were low or high in another feild. if you have measels as an issues something like vit A protical would help. to fix IGG issues keeping things out and rotating will heal the gut there. the eye rolling also makes me suspect you have gluten triggered seizers Interventions for HyperImmune Kids> > > > DS is hyperimmune (has an overactive immune system, not low but high) - he never falls sick.
