Re: Odd RT3 results

If you have been on T3 only (ie cynomel) for 3 months there is no way to have any RT3 so no, those results are not a mistake.  How do you feel?  How are your temps and pulse?  Yes, you're over range on the FT3 but Val says you almost always have to be over range, when on T3 only, to feel well.

I had blood work done and they screwed up

the RT3, instead running a Total T3. So, I ordered my own Reverse T3

and Free T3 from LabCorp. I just got those results back. Now 3 months

ago my ratio was 13. I have been treating with cynomel. My new results

are:

Free T3  5.6 (high)   Range: 2.0-4.4 pg/mL

Reverse T3  <17  (low)   Range: 90-350 pg/mL

This surely has got to be a mistake, right????

I would say your results are perfectly normal and to be expected once on

T3 onyl for three months. This si why I say it is a guaranteed way to

get rid of RT3.

Thanks Val & Birrdyy! It makes sense

now...LOL! I feel fine and my temps still show hypo, but are within 2

tenths of a degree of each other and have been for some time now. I

take that to mean that the adrenals are being supported, right? I have

actually been able to lose a little weight and don't look so puffy. So,

would I now switch to Armour? How to do that...do I just take enough

Armour to equal the amount of T3 I am taking? Here are some other

recent labs, if interested.

Ferritin: 60 Range: 11-306.8 ng/ml (previously: 41 Range: 10-291

ng/ml)

ACTH: 19 Range: 10-60 (AM draw) pg/mL

TSH: 0.27 (low) Range: .34-5.6 uIU/ml

Free T4: 0.16 (low) Range: 0.61-1.12 ng/dl

Sodium: 139 Range: 137-145 mmol/L

Potassium: 4.3 Range: 3.5-5.1 mmol/L

Vitamin D, 25-Hydrozy: 36 Range: 25-80 ng/dl

I am taking 75mcg T3 (mexican cynomel), 600mg potassium in split doses,

1/4 tsp. sea salt 4 x day (was two) + salting food liberally, I am also

taking about 600-700mg iron in split doses, IsoCort: 5,3,3,2; I was

just put on bio-i progesterone cream 50 mg. (my progesterone was 76.1

Range:127-446 pg/ml). There are other supps such as vitamin D-6000 IU

in split doses (D was still low, which surprised me) and vitamin C etc.

that I'm taking as well.

Let me know what you think!

Well it si up to you but if you feel fine I would think twice about

going back to Armoru especailyl wiht the new formulaiton issues and

shortages! But you will need ot add it back in slowly if thta is what

you decide to do. I would add in 60mg (a grain) and drop 12.5mcg T3 thne

in a couple weeks drop another 12.5mcg T3 then wait a couple weeks and

repeat.

Thanks for the advice, Val. Gives me a lot to think about. If I decide

to stay on T3, (I'm at 75mcg now and still showing hypo) can I continue

to slowly raise till temps are normal (98.6) and as long as temps are

stable?

Thanks again,

Stevie

btw, how are you liking your new home?
