We've used Zoloft, Luvox (a horror for ), and Paxil. In addition, she

takes Ativan PRN as needed for aggitation, etc. Tylenol with codeine did not

help for long. I add that because when we've seen self abuse, it's almost

always been because of undiagnosed ear pain (her local ped would add sinus

issues, etc.). Nothing other than a diagnosis and appropriate antibiotics

have worked very well. Hope this is not too discouraging - but think of SIB,

etc. as communication and move from there. Martha

Risperdal has been Patty's lifesdaver. But we have had to change the dosage

here and there. At one point she aso was on Guanfacine. It is supposedly a

blood pressure medication but they found it works in combination with Risperdal

quite well. Now she is only on Risperdal and orthotrycyclene which is a

hormonal medicaion (the pill!). I really think that is the clincher to make her

medicaion work. It sure as heck shows when she hasn't had her meds!

Need input on meds....

I have posted this question before and would like input again. I put my

son n (13yrs)on Respirdol about 8 months ago and he starting to have

behavior problems again, specifically the self abuse and head banging. I

recall reading that the meds need to be rotated and would like some input on

what other meds have been used.
