Guest guest
obviously there is gut dysbiosis here. I would go for stool testing in a path lab. But probiotic should be increased a lot. Wheat should be TOTALLY stopped and what about caseine? On the vitamin front there is split among authorities on vitamins A and D. Natasha advocates for cod liver oil as sourceof A and D, McCandless is not favoring A because of the Vitamin D Council. In any case even they argue in favor of some A. Theratio is D:A, 5:1.My gut feeling is that if there were a Vitamin A Council, we would have a different music going on.Go by experience. If A is working, why not continue? Yes, the dose has to be watched. The book is not on hand so I can't tell thedose.-------------Ratan Singh, Phone: 91 141 2652561, mail: ratanpsych@...- Certificate in Food & Nutrition; Diploma in Nutrition and Health Education; Life Member, Nutrition Soc. of India; Member ISOM- Author of "Nutrition & Supplements in Major Mental Illnesses";- M.A. (Psychol), Postgraduate Diploma in Medical & Social Psychology, Ph.D.;- Certified Behavior Therapist (from late Prof. J. Hopefully, they will stick. What I'm wondering is how long do we do the maintenance dose (20,000 to 40,000 iu)? McCandless's book doesn't say how long to do the maintenance dose and since vit A blocks vit D, we want to be carefull with this. Also, what types of side effects or reactions have people seen as part of the process? Last night, my guy had a case of the giggles at 2am, but I was expecting yeast. The next morning he had diarrhea in his diaper and it comprised very dark feces, some blood (Daddy gave him wheat - grr - so it could have been the infraction), more of the green/black stringy stuff, black flecks of non-fecal matter, and a ton of mucous. Guest guest
, I have been wanting to try this protocol with my 27 month old daughter since I first read about it but my Dan only wants to give her 5000 iu's and then watch and see how things go. I have a couple of questions for you. You read about the protocol in the book "Kids with starving brains" right? well in the book it said on page 180 that if your child meets 3 of the 5 listed conditions that you should give it a try. One of the them which is #3 on the list says elevated Rubeola level, did you ever test your child's? my daughter came back as 385.3 crazy crazy high, her measules was something like 5.4something and mumps was in the 4.7 range, so from just that I think that she would a perfect case to try, she also regressed after her MMR which is another condition. Another question does you child have any issue with vision wear glasses, rub his eyes alot anything like that? my daughter wears glasses and is always rubbing her eyes and it would make sence for what I am reading. We just started the B12 shot and my dan said that she would relook at doing the protocol in a month. I am just excited about it and can't wait to get the ok. I haven't yet started the 5000 iu's yet, I was given the ok last Thursday but she was given three other things to start and of course you need to start them three to four days apart, I am planning on starting them on Thursday this week. One more question was your son on a smaller amount before starting the protocol? I know that I wasn't much help answering your questions but I am so excited to read someone else has tried this because it does seem like alot are. One more thing my daughter is taken 2000iu's in the morning of VitD do you think maybe I should give the Vit A at another time? Thanks for your post and I am glad to hear that it's working for your little guy, To: mb12 valtrex Sent: Mon, November 8, 2010 9:28:59 AMSubject: Vitamin A Protocol Maintenance Dose & More Hi everyone,We just did the two-day High Dose Vitamin A protocol with my 3.5 yo son. Guest guest
Hi , Let me caveat this by saying that I am certainly not the expert. I'm just hoping not to be a cautionary tale. My son has high Rubeola titers (maybe 5 times the norm) and rubs his eyes a lot. The closest thing that we have seen to a visual stim is that he closes his eyes tight and " looks " at lights. We don't really know if he regressed after measles. His issue was more a lack of movement than a backward step and it was so gradual, that we missed it until he was almost two. My son takes multi's with about 5,000 per day. He also takes 1,500 iu of Vitamin D since he tested low for that a while ago. We give 500 iu of D at breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I decided to try Vitamin A even though my son does not meet the criteria technically since he is close. The challenge with him is that he is " close " on everything. For example, his DAN! said he didn't need to work on his gut because it was perfect. I found that while nothing was off the charts, he was out of balance and guess what - a couple of months on serious probiotics and enzymes has really helped him and he potty trained himself. I think because ASD is a multi-factorial condition, many of our kids have low levels of a ton of things. I'm hoping that by helping him fight some of his moderate battles, we can win a few and his body can focus on some others that we haven't figured out yet. To your point on your excitement over trying Vitamin A, I hear you and I have definitely been there - in fact, I'm there right now. Guest guest
Apparently, there are high rates of Vitamin D deficiency throughout the world. Studies show that Vitamin A can block the body's absorption of Vitamin D. Given Vitamin D's importance, this is a risk. > > > > Hi everyone, > > We just did the two-day High Dose Vitamin A protocol with my 3.5 yo son. Guest guest
, Thank you for your responds, my daughter too didn't really loose anyI hvthing but hasn't made much progress. The only thing that I know for sure that she no longer does is calp when you ask her too. The eye thing is weird, my daughter also looks at light not alot but enough that you can notice. As far as the talking she babbles all day long sometimes she can get out a clear word but most of the time I can't make it out but she sure tries. I have never seen her copy anything we so or say, most of the day she will watch tv, flip through books, get on the computer table and turn the screen on and off while I am trying to type. Does you son but anything in his mouth? she is always chewing on toys.Did you do the B12 shots? My daughter will come around us wants to be hugged, kisses has a small amount of arm flapping and here and there will either rock or spin in a circle for a min or two but it's never really more then 5 mins.Is this the second day for the high dose? have you seen anything so far? Does your dan know that you tried this? Guest guest
Can maintaining the right balance between Vit. A and Vit. D supplementation help with this? If yes, what is the right balance? What is the correct ratio of Vit. A supplementation to Vit. D supplementation? Also should Vit. D and Vit. A be given at 2 separate times of the day? We give Vit. Since he is already on diflucan with Valtrex, I'm just upping his probiotics slightly. What has been more surprising has been poop issues? [The poop sensitive should stop reading at this point] The first day, he had what appeared to be a normal poop in terms of external color, texture, etc. However, when it touched the toilet bowl it split revealing what was inside and there was a green, black stringy mucousy substance straight out of a horror flick. The next morning he had diarrhea in his diaper and it comprised very dark feces, some blood (Daddy gave him wheat - grr - so it could have been the infraction), more of the green/black stringy stuff, black flecks of non-fecal matter, and a ton of mucous. Is this what it looks like when you shed measles? He's had infractions before and we've never seen anything like this before. Would you share what you may have seen during the Vit A protocol process to help me normalize (or not) what I'm seeing. > > > > > > > > Thanks, > > > > > > > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
, I will be interested in response to your giving A and D separated by several hours. Guest guest
Ratan,I am not a Doctor, so I do not have a specific reason for this. I am following drs orders. What I do know is that many nutritional supplements effect others. It would be terrific if there were a reference resource that was fairly comprehensive for all of it. Anyone know of a good one?Sent from my iPhone , I will be interested in response to your giving A and D separated by several hours. Guest guest
The first time we did high dose Vit. A it was wonderful - DS stopped echoing and was giving the right response to a question. However, it has come back after several months. We did the high dose Vit. A again but the echoing did not go away this time. Can this be explained by his Vit.D level? During the first round of high dose Vit.A, his Vit.D was higher than it was during the second round of high dose Vit.A. I just don't undertsand why he gets better and then slips back again. > > Hi everyone, > We just did the two-day High Dose Vitamin A protocol with my 3.5 yo son. Guest guest
after the 2 days of high vitamin a did you maintain a daily dose? I am not a expert on it at all however from what I read you have to keep a level of 10000 to 25000 iu's per day To: mb12 valtrex Sent: Thu, November 11, 2010 10:54:27 AMSubject: Re: Vitamin A Protocol Maintenance Dose & More The first time we did high dose Vit. Guest guest
Thanks for your response . I did keep DS on a maintenance dose after the 2 day high dose Vit.A protocol. However, our DAN had recommended only 5000 I.U. per day as the maintenance and that's what I followed. He weighs about 35 lbs. and is 5.5 years old. I'm not sure how the echolalia came back and how to get rid of it. Any suggestions? Guest guest
Arpita, If the echolalia appears to be a stim, you can try to "steal" it. Just repeat everything he echoes. Works Ike a charm for our guy. We use it for repetitive words, sounds or actions. It is never fun to share your Stims with others - keep it up. You will get strange looks from him. Just keep going. Appears to work on the same aggravation principle as movie popcorn. No one really wants to share movie popcorn.Sent from my iPhonerOn Nov 12, 2010, at 12:11 PM, "Arpita" k wrote: Thanks for your response .
