Do you know that you have a lot of toxins (I know we all have them), but have you tested high in something specifically? I am a massage therapist and I nurse and receive bodywork regularly. You may dump a little bit, but it's my understanding that we dump some just with breastfeeding. I personally think the benefits of a relaxed mom outweigh any small amount of toxins that you might dump. That's just my opinion. I know that massage is not contraindicated for nursning moms in general. Hope that helps. Amy

HiIf you want to get rid of those toxins, just take charcoal before and after the rubs. The charcoal will absorb the toxins and also help clean your liver. Won't harm your breastmilk in any way and won't hurt the baby either.nancy jSubject: spa safe while nursing? To: abmd , Autism-Mercury , taca-usa , mb12 valtrex Date: Thursday, April 15, 2010, 6:35 AM

Leah,

I nursed (what seemed like forever - Maddie until she was 17 months old, she's

19 months old now!) -- and I used to get a massage at least once a month. (I

tend to be very type A, and stressed out) -- so the post that said " happy Mom's "

means happy baby is closer to right!

I was told to drink at least 16 oz of water after a massage to get rid of

toxins. And forgo the " deep tissue " massage. (reg massage should be fine) I

never pumped and dumped. But if I felt that if I needed to I usually pumped for

a bottle (before I went) and did a feeding to get thru 4 hours, and then I

breastfed. I did this so if there were toxins, that they would be less as a

result. I am a water drinker anyway...so this was not difficult for me.

Jimmy took fine to a bottle (as I started working again when he was about 8

months) -- Maddie couldn't stand the bottle, so it was only a few times that I

actually could bottle feed her. (And when she was 10 months she was drinking

from a sippy or a straw cup, so I just put the breast milk in there)

Go get a massage, and enjoy it... :)
