Guest guest
Hi Pearl, I have done it with and without a dehydrator: With the dehydrator: I peel then slice the garlic cloves. Lay them in a single layer on dehydrator trays. DRy according to manufacturer instructions. In Oven: Peel and thinly slice garlic (As thin as possible) dry at low temperature, mine was set between 150°F and 175°F. I have a propane stove so didn't need to vent. For those with an electric stove you may need to keep oven door open an inch or so for the moisture to vent. (Use something oven safe - pot holder oven mitt etc.) I turned it off overnight to let it dry out (I wasn't comfortable leaving the oven on overnight) When dried store in a tightly sealed glass bottle. I leave them whole in the bottle and only grind small amounts at a time so they don't pick up moisture from the air. Sheila UC, 20 years -- in remission after 39 mos SCD mom of SCD 24 mos > would someone share if they have dried garlic to make powder and how they did it. I noticed on a recipe it calls for home made garlic powder and would like to do it. Thanks
