Hello group, wanted to get some feedback on the Wii system and rehab with this.

First of all should inpatients and outpatients use this? Second, is this a

billable service and where do you draw the line between rehab and playing a

game? I have looked into purchasing a balance master in the past and recently I

used the Wii Fit system and didn't see a lot of difference between the two and

actually thought that the Wii Fit might have more applications for rehab? Just

wanted to get thoughts from everyone on this, thanks

Jeff,

Our clinic has been using the wii and wii fit for many patient applications in

our outpatient clinic. Very useful for balance and proprioceptive work. We

considered purchasing a balance system, but when we look at the cost, we need to

re-think and, for now, continue using our balance tests ie: Berg, tinetti, etc.

along with other gait and exercise techniques, but the wii certainly has added

to this list of techniques....and it is fun. We have staff contests after

hours...good for us too.

Some locations I work with are using the Wii. We have good anecdotal evidence

but does anyone know of any research on the Wii in reahb setting?
