Guest guest
The only reason I would even consider getting on a trampoline is if one of the onlookers had a video camera and was shooting the " spectacle " for a shot at the $5,000 prize on America's Funniest Home videos. I can see the concrete crumbling now as I try to hoist myself up a pool ladder.....Thanks for the encouragement. How old are your kids? How many do you have? Re: (no subject) From: thestewarts@... (Herbert ) Ditto. I dream of those days too. And let us not forget - Not exceeding the weight limit on my kids' trampoline or the pool ladder!!! Guest guest
Paam Hi, Ihave three kids, ages 8, 5, 3. LThey are the light of my life. I want so much to be able to play with them and go places with them. They are the main reason for my fighting so hard with the insurance company to get this surgery. I have gotten so big that I cannot even set outside with them and watch them play, let along play with them. I dream of taking them to the beach and going to the pool with them. I don't want to embarrass them at school functions. I used to think that I was the only one who knew what this felt like until I joined this list. Everyone here feels like soul sisters and brothers to me. Talk with you soon Kathy Kaiser Permente appealing P>S> Do you have 's number at the hospitaL? Have you heard how she or Bonnie are doing? Guest guest
Kathy, How true, How true, How true. I know exactly what you mean by thinking we were alone in our struggles and embarrassment. As a high school vocational guidance counselor (currently on leave of absence due to a disability, but hoping to go back in the Fall) I had to deal with the stares, and giggles and snide comments. You expect that with teenagers (just wait until yours hit those wonderful years between 13-17 when they act like your IQ has dropped about 100 points) but not with adult professionals. I tell you what, people may not consider morbid obesity a disability as much as a character flaw, but I feel just as discriminated against all the time. I am so sick and tired of having to sit in the Handicapped section at restaurants just to have a chair I can move back from the table enough to eat comfortably. Episodes like that were one of my biggest motivators. That and the fact I wanted my daughter to be proud of me. My husband, God love him didn't care as long as I was happy and healthy. When I started avoid going out in public unless absolutely necessary and refusing to go to company functions because I was embarrassed about the way I looked, (even though he said I was fine just the way I was) I knew the time had come to take drastic measures. If I can never eat meat of any kind again it will be worth it. This support group is the best thing sinced sliced bread. I'm getting callouses on my behind from sitting in front of the computer screen answering and reading all the e-mails, but I love it! Just knowing there are others out there who know how we feel makes all the difference in the world. Who knows, maybe in a year or two we can have Dr. Rutledge patient day at Carowinds. Wouldn't that be a trip!!!!!? Re: Trampoline & Swimming Pool Ladder From: thestewarts@... (Herbert ) Paam Hi, Ihave three kids, ages 8, 5, 3. LThey are the light of my life. Guest guest
I use to teach high school too!! It was horrible, I don't know which is worse, being the teacher who is laughed at or being the student too fat to fit in the desk. I hated going to work everyday, simply because of the self image problems I have. I thought hall duty was the worst!!! Hopefully, in a few years I will return to teaching and things will be different. I'll be able to focus on my job instead of how embarrassed I feel being in front of people all the time. Good luck kaiser permetne appealing Kathy

I was the only one of about fifty students who couldn't fit in the desks. I was pregnant, but only like four months..so it was an excuse to comfortable in class. People kept lookign at me and I would blurt out " I'm pregnant " ...they must have thought I was strange. Tara

I have grandkids from teenagers down to a 1-year old that I keep nearly every day, and I would like to be able to stay around a few more years to see how they do and to guide them as much as I am able. They are one of the main reasons for my considering the operation, so my health can hopefully improve. Hang in there. Mitch
Guest guest
Kathy: I can relate SO MUCH to this!! I have 2 preschoolers & I want to do so much with them. Up until the last 25 lbs I could convince myself that I could do it all & deny my size & its effects. (After all, I've been doing that since I was 5 & had gotten really good at it!!) Hang in there. Know that I'm also doing the insurance battle/appeal. It does get hard at times, but I have to believe it will happen for all of us. Good luck & keep fighting!!
