Guest guest
Hi All, As a former foster parent (years ago) I had several children that had odd disorders. Dolores mentioned marfan's syndrome. I had a child who had that, it actually is the same disorder that President Lincoln had. I also had an infant who had cre de chat (spelling?) syndrome. That is french for " cry of the cat " in addition to this child being mentally retarded she sounded just like a cat when she cried. I remember bringing this child to an elementary school as they were learning about disabilities. When I got there the baby was asleep (she also had an odd shaped head). The kids were disappointed because they wanted to hear her cry. As I spoke about the disorder and answered the kids questions I asked a little boy (these were 5th graders) to come and hold the baby. He was so hesitant. He sat next to me and out of the corner of my eye, I saw him gradually begin to touch and stroke the baby. She finally woke up and did cry. That 5th grader told me that his grandpa was in a nursing home and grandpas room mate scared him because of his handicap. He told me after holding the baby (now he was lovin' on her) he would never be afraid of handicapped people again. was that babies name. She was later adopted into a family who cared for children such as her. To be honest, when social services first brought her to me and left her there, I almost picked up the phone and told them to come and get her. She was very odd looking. I got on my knees and prayed that I could accept this child. A few days later, we were all lovin' on her too. She was a blessing.
