Guest guest
Hi - thanks for the update. Looks like I'm going to be taking the same path as you since I'm having trouble with my milk supply. I knew that my milk was low at night and was working on that but I was doing great in the day- supply wise - so I wasn't worried. But my son just went in for a month check up and he has only gained 7 ounces - not good at all I guess. He was 9 lbs 7 oz at birth so it isn't a huge worry but of course for me I'm concerned because I'm his source of nutrition! We go back in a week for a weight check so I have a week to try and figure this out. I just got back from the health food store where I talked with a very informed staff about this problem. They gave me Fenugreek capsules, Borage oil, Mothers Milk tea and Folic Acid to increase my milk. You may have already mentioned this, but how much Fenugreek are you taking? Also for you and anyone else, are there certain foods (besides beer, I can't stomach it!) that help the milk supply? I have very little appetite so I'm trying to make what I eat count if that makes sense. My doctor said to make sure I was eating enough fat for the baby's brain development as well as protein. She said nuts and eggs were some good foods to start with. Appreciate all of the support I get from this list. And hope things continue to improve for you ! Guest guest
Amy, I am taking 3 capsules 3/day. You can take more since it seems a little more urgent than my situation. They haven't bothered me in the slightest. Except the maple smell which is just weird. A good fat food is avocado if you like them. Make guacamole or something. Stay in bed and nurse a lot in this week. Make sure you concentrate on having a healthy weight gaining baby. Doctors can get pretty dramatic so really try to nurse all you can this week. Lots of water. Oatmeal is also supposed to help with milk. Do lots of visualization. Waterfalls and such. Lots of relaxation. It helps the milk flow more. Feel free to cry also that is supposed to help the milk flow. My baby is much older so this isn't so important for me to increase my supply. But with a baby who is a month the doctors could want you to start supplementing which would definitely screw everything up. Stay positive and think calories. Good Luck! Wendi Re: fenugreek update Hi - thanks for the update. Looks like I'm going to be taking the same path as you since I'm having trouble with my milk supply. Guest guest
, Thank-you I actually know that. I am just being stupid I guess. My daughter was on goat's milk until 2 years old and now she still doesn't really drink too much milk. My son was also being supplemented on goat's milk. It just was getting so expensive. I started giving him cow's milk (with no growth hormone) at first it seemed fine but recently it seems like its not going so well. I do need to start buying goat's milk again. This is what I love about the list. You all help me remember what I am doing. I do have much more milk but pumping still isn't working. He's nursing much more so I don't need to give him as much supplements. But for when I am gone I need to go back to goat's milk. Thanks again. Guest guest
Thanks Wendi! That's why we bought the goats, LOL! The raw certified milk costs so much! You can buy it here in cans condensed, still a lot of money. Also in the cartons, a lot too! We now have a Fred Meyer store with a Nutrition dept. & they will special order for us. After we bought the goats....with no knowledge whatsoever regarding their care....we soon learned that they had to have shots, hoof trims, Dates with Mr. Goat ) And believe me they smell very bad! My Husband built them a barn & a stantion (sp) to get into for their twice daily milking. Come to think of it the trip 80 miles was cheaper, LOL! Good luck with your little one! Love to you, Re: fenugreek update , Thank-you I actually know that. I am just being stupid I guess. Guest guest
, The goat thing is not an option. We live in an apartment. My mom had goats when we were little and I remember all of what you are saying. I really like goats but they are a hassle. We have a guinea pig and fish. Wendi Re: fenugreek update Thanks Wendi! Guest guest
Wendi, I am so glad to hear that fennugreek is working for you. I tried it in the beginning of my milk supply problem and it did not work very well. Perhaps I will give it another go?. Clay is still nursing between 2-5 times per day. He is sleeping thru the night mostly and all of a sudden. Well, my dh is here and he is going to help me scan on of our beach pictures...finally! Sorry, but he has been gone a lot and I don't know how to work this scanner yet. I hope it works!

Guest guest
, My friend said that you need to smell like maple syrup then you know you've gotten enough. I don't know if you took enough or not. It definitely isn't a miracle. But it has made nursing much more pleasant for both of us. Zaid also is suddenly sleeping through the night. I resaved one picture as a jpeg and saw your family on the beach. What a great looking family. Both your boys are so cute. Thanks its nice to put a face to some of the people here. Zaid is teething horribly. He has twelve teeth coming in. He has gotten one of the twelve and is in a lot of pain. My nipples are also hurting like crazy. I am trying to nurse more frequently for less time. My nipples seem to get really sore after a long feeding. Anyway thanks for the pic. One came through as a text document, but I got one. Guest guest
Fenugrek is an herb. I used it with my last child to increase milk supply. The only bad side effect is that you smell like maple syrup. It can also lower your blood sugar. a indigomoon wrote: > > > Hello Wendi, > Sorry to butt in ) > What's Fenugreek?
