Hi I have a question for my partner who is currently on 5 grains erfa thyroid

(after crashing on new armour) and 22mg HC.

She's made great improvements over the last little while, her temp has increased

to average of 36.7 celcius, she's feeling more stable and a few other things.

She's still very tired though and we're wondering about T3 resistance. We're in

the process of having RT3 checked, but wondering if you could tell me whether

her last labs suggest an RT3 problem?

When she was on the old armour, that was the best she felt, and her T3 was

higher than it is in these new labs. Does that suggest she might have peripheral

thyroid hormone resistance?

She's taking lots of supplements, 2 x iron tablets a day and vitamin D. We're

wondering whether to up her thyroid to 6 grains and see if that gets rid of the

last of the symptoms.. or should we be looking at something else first??

Thanks!

Speaking of iron, how is her ferritan and iron panel?  5 grains is a lot and not unheard of if you have all the other bases (ferritan, RT3 and cortisol) covered.  Are her temps stable?

Hi there,

Yep her temps have been pretty stable, and the HC has done a lot for stabilising

her mood and stopping afternoon crashes etc.

I haven't got her iron numbers. Our doc, who is great and generally has ranges

which are similar to the ones listed on STTM, said it was a little lower than

she'd like but not too bad. We upped her iron from one to two tablets a day

after that. We'll have ferritin retested at next appointment.

RT3 she had checked a year ago and we've just requested those results as they

were done by another doc. We'll try and have that redone at next appt too. Do

her labs suggest RT3 issues? I know it's hard to tell, but is there something to

do with the FT3 / FT4 ratio that gives a clue?

So we'll have those things checked out.. assuming they're ok I guess she just

ups the thyroid?

Do you see many people who have resistance to thyroid at the tissue level and

just need more? Or is this usually caused by something else?

Also, do you usually see fatigue getting better by 36.7 degrees? We're a bit

surprised that her temp has come up so much but she's still tired.

Thanks for your help

I don't see the labs, you'll need to repost.Upped iron pills from one to two but what does that mean.  How much elemental iron in each and what was her ferritan before or don't you have ferritan along with iron labs?

Oops, sorry, here are the labs:

Free T4 18.7 (9-25)

Free T3 6.7 (3.5-6.5)

TSH <0.01

The iron tablets she takes have 105mg elemental iron in each and she takes 2 a

day. I haven't got her ferritin results with me sorry, I'd have to request these

from the doc.
