Hi Dawn.....

No, I don't work any longer. I went out on state disability in Aug. 98

and was on that for 1 yr. In Feb. 99 I filed for my SSI. I had heard

it takes months to years to get it, but I was ok'd in less than 8 weeks.

Once that kicked in I was receiving State Disability, my Long Term

Disability and SSI.... In Aug of 99 the State Disability ended. So now

I'm just a lady of leasure....LOL

It's wise to start the process for SSD.... this disease can take years

to get back to somewhat normal. Stress can cause a flair up and what

job isn't stressful.

Enjoy!

Amen to that!!! My Rheumy is quite an a##hole though and I'm kind of

thinking he won't give me the kind of report I will need for the

disability forms. We'll see. I wish I had someone with more of a

bedside manner, so to speak. He's brilliant and I don't doubt he knows

his stuff, but what a jerk!!! I go back to see him in March, so I'll be

bringing my forms in with me. They say it can take 6-8 weeks to get

approved or denied, then you have to wait 4 mths. here in Canada before

you're entitled to benefits. I'm currently on sick-leave Unemployment

benefits and they run out in June. Thanks.

Dawn,

Hi! I haven't been able to get through all the emails this weekend but I wanted to let you know that I was approved for ssd (federal disability) the first time and it only took an over the phone interview and papers to fill out and return and a great note from my doctor. I was approved in only 4 weeks. My dad was really shocked. So was I. Because of my age, so many people told me that it would probably take several appeals to get approved. I hated leaving my job at first because they were so nice to me but after about 2 weeks at home with the kids, I didn't look back!!!

I miss my friends but I love being at home. You should do it too. It is too hard to be a full time mom, wife, and hold down a full time job. I found myself going in later and later or laying in bed trying to figure out what excuse I could come up with, but never having been a good liar, I would throw a baseball cap on my head and go to work anyway! I worked at Home Depot so I could wear jeans, polo tops, baseball caps, etc.... I was thankful I didn't have to get all dressed up. But, my job was suffering so badly. I was taking longer breaks and lunches and felt like I was cheating not only myself but the company. My supervisors acted like they didn't notice because they were trying to be nice but I finally decided it wasn't fair to the cashiers (I was the trainer) and especially myself. I finally decided to put myself first. That was a toughie too, always having been a people pleaser. I sat in my boss' office and cried for 2 hours. He gave me a hug and said 'anytime you want to come back, you just call me.....' Funny thing is, he quit about 6 months after me!!!!

Dawn, put yourself first!!!! It is difficult for some but you have to try!!!!

Take care,

Zanna
