Guest guest
, A couple of questions come to mind. What did you eat last before bedtime and how long before you took that measurement? Also, not to insult, but did you wash your hands beofre taking the reading? Lastly, do you feel like you could be coming down with a cold or possibly any other flu symptoms? If that is the case you will see higher readings until you are oveer whatever ails you. These are just thoughts and there could be other variables causing the elevation. Guest guest
Hello , A little more info would help us. Are you a type 2 on oral meds? How old are you, and how long have you been diabetic? Are you fairly healthy? And, is your weight normal, or are you over weight? Finally, are you seeing a doctor, and is your stress level higher than normal? Guest guest
i am type one insulin dependent and have been since youth. however, for years i did nothing to take care of this disease so i wound up blind and in kidney failure. i recieved a transplant in two thousand two and have been doing great with it. in spite of being on steriods due to the transplant i have been able to manage the bs levels for more than a year now with a a1c of around 6.4-6.5 for a year now. thanks to the transplant, which was a blessing, i have gained about sixty lbs over the past seven yearsbut over the past year i have manged my weight. i am not losing nor am i gaining just a rock steady weight. when you mentioned stress i realized what the problem was right away. my stress levels this month have been right up there with the United states national debt, and to top it off my dog was killed in aan accident this week. sometimes when we get an opportunity to talk it out we can find out what our problem is for ourselves and i just did by replying to your questions. gotta go see if i can lower this stress by doing something constructive. david
Guest guest
, Oh yeah, stress will definitely play havoc in your life and in of itself will increase your blood sugar as well as blood pressure. Losing your dog didn't help matters either. Glad you were able to talk it out a little and that you realize some of where your stress is coming from, which is the first step in dealing with it then lowering it. When you find ways to lower your stress, you will feel better about yourself and you will also have more confidence in how you manage things like your diabetes control. Good luck! Guest guest
this has just been one of those months where everything that can go wrong has gone wrong and i never related this t ohigh bs levels. now that you mentioned it my blood pressure has risen slightly as well. where the norma is 130 over 70 it has been running about 140 over 70 i did not think this was a big deal and blamed it on the meter. suppose building a house would be too much to do in four hours to lower stress level?hahalol david

Guest guest
I find that when I eat apples I have very high sugars, SO, I leave them ALONE. Guest guest
Hi Terrie, This seems like the opposite of what should happen. When you eat an apple it is the carbohydrates in that apple that raise your blood sugar. When you drink apple juice, you are essentially drinking pure carbohydrates with all of the fibre removed, and so for most of us that would cause a much sharper spike in blood sugar. I, for example, have type 1 diabetes and I eat apples but will not drink apple juice unless my blood sugar is low, as the spike it causes is just too rapid for any kind of injected insulin to keep up with. How soon after eating these do you test? If it's a few hours afterwards, I would suggest testing sooner after drinking apple juice -- it may be that it's spiking your blood sugar high very quickly and it's coming down again before you test, while a whole apple causes a slower rise (due to the fibre, etc.) so that your blood sugar is still on its way down when you test. Guest guest
What kind of apple are you eating? some apples are higher in natural sugar than others. And, I don't know this for sure, but I would guess that some apples are higher in fiber, and the higher the fiber, the less impact they should have. Guest guest
IT DOES NOT make sense TO me, because I have heard that TOO. I tested the sugar within an HOUR even up TO 4 HOURS after that, because I did NOT like the way I felt, and IT was still up TO 27.7 the first time and 27.6 the SECOND time. When I have just a small glass OF apple juice my sugars stay within NORMAL range FOR me. I DON't KNOW why. I DON't DO that very OFTEN. OH, well, SOMETIMES juices WORK better FOR me and SOMETIMES NOT. eachOF us is different. I DON't drink that much at ONE time.
