We've used flagyl to treat Clostridia. No side effects except huge bms. My son looks great while on this stuff.Sent via DROID on Verizon Wireless Flagyl Questions Does anyone have experience with Flagyl? My 6 year old son has had terrible bloating issues for a while now. We cannot get it under control. He wakes up each morning with a nice flat stomach and then gets bloated as the day goes on. I had one doctor who was concerned enough to test for dismotility (and that's a whole other post), but the GI doctor prescribed Flagyl for one week, wondering if it was a bacteria issue and the bacteria was fermenting in his gut causing extra gas.We had him gfcfsf from age 3 to 4 and put him back on the diet 3 months ago due to lack of weight gain (he's 37 lbs now). But it seems like we traded one carb for another (rice, corn and other gluten free flours). I know I should have him corn free, sugar free (the only sugar he gets is from honey and fruit), and off of dried fruits (he loves raisins)...but I'm running out of things to feed him, especially in school. I think he may even have issues with rice and eggs. But no doctor has been able to find anything. Anyways, today is day 7 of Flagyl, 3 mls twice a day. When I picked him up from school, he was very tired and bloated--when he has diarrhea, he usually holds it until he gets home (he's not potty trained). He threw up in the car, fell asleep and then threw up again when we got home. It was very white and mucousy (sp?). Then he finally had the bm he was holding. After I cleaned him up, he was back to his old self again. I just don't get it. He spent over half the day miserable. Could this have been a reaction to the Flagyl? Could it be seen as a good thing?Sorry this was so long, just very worried.Nadia
